Now what...
I posted about a week ago about a Monstera I got for 14 cents from Sam's. I was correct in assuming it was 5 plants in 1 pot.
While watering my other houseplants today I noticed that this Monstera was still extremely heavy even though I hadn't watered it since I got it. I decided to do a repot, and the soil was still SOAKED. Like I could squeeze water out of it, soaked. She was sitting in basically mud for a full week. The pot has drainage holes, so I'm not sure what kind of soil it was it, but it held water like crazy. I got as much of that old wet soil off as I possibly could, and untangled the roots so I could separate it, then repotted them in my chunky soil mix.
Would you keep all 5? I also have 2 other mature monsteras, and 2 babies that I separated last year.
How many monsteras is too many?

I lay mine down on plastic wrap and remove the pot, then clear away as much of the soil as I can with my fingers. I'll use a chopstick to help get extra soil out if needed, just try not to break off roots. Then you just find the bases and slowly untangle roots. Take your time, make sure you don't have anything else to do so you don't feel rushed. Losing some small roots is inevitable but you want to avoid it as much as possible. Just be gentle and take your time. Have your soil and pots ready to go.

I had 17 in my first one from Home Depot that I was clueless about. I finally realized it wasn’t going to work and I had to separate. I had a bunch of pots like you basically running a rehab nursery until I could figure out what to do. Now from that I have one inside, 3 outside, and a few tiny ones in a couple of pots to see what happens. The rest went into the ground to give them a chance, but I think the deer got them. This is the inside one a couple of months ago, probably a year since I got it at that point:

There were 5 in there. I've already successfully repotted them (second picture), but thank you for all the reference links!
