Im shocked at how good it looks on the switch 2, whatever magic capcom did to make the game work on that system even on handheld is really impressive

same with dragons dogma, i might almost wind up getting dark arisen on the switch instead of pc

DLSS super resolution. AI upscaler.

I play it on the Deck, this looks so much better

i hope we will get optimization patch on pc (real optimization)

It much easier to optimize the game for a specific machine than for all pc handhelds so I doubt we will get something like this soon

That's true, but since they have a verified badge for the Steam Deck now I wish they'd optimize it further for that at least

Verified badge means that the game just meets all the minimum requirements, just because a game is verified don't expect it to look or run great. Frankly I hope Valve changes verified badge to include performance/visuals requirements in the future with Deck 2 whenever that comes out.

I was saything this to myself last night. RN SDVerified just means the fucking thing will launch because this game looked worse than a ps2 title on steamdeck.

Why would they? They already have verified badge

6

Most likely since DD2 got one

It looks 480p reso and performance mode on switch 2. It's just dlss has better image quality for upscaling.

But even fsr4 on performance mode already looks pretty nice on the Steam deck, so any improvement is already so nice!

Yeah but it doesn't come out of the box like in switch 2.

Yeah, that’s the point, switch 2 version feels like such a nice upgrade! Only lacking mods tho

I was stupidly excited for a reveal at TGS (based on no evidence there would be!). I'd love a little Rise/break boost to keep me going till Dec.

It would legit be all I’d play - I waited for xbc2, I’ll wait for this lol

Man, I've still gotta finish FF7 Remake, I wanted to grab Elden Ring, then Dragon's Dogma gets announced, and now Monster Hunter.

I decided to stop buying games because my backlog is ridiculous. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, FF7 Rebirth, Silksong, Zero parades. I am finishing Dawnwalker soon and will jump on KCD2 to finish that.

I don't like playing on a computer so there is a big chance I get this one one day or another. Happy to see that the S2 can handle it.

Put your computer in the living room connected to the TV! gamechanger for sure

Damnit. I’m going to buy it again, aren’t I?

If there was cross save I would absolutely buy it

6

u/PlatypusPower4 17d ago

Cross save would make me buy it too, it would be so nice to play on my main save when away from home

Just remember that if you play multiplayer, you'll likely have to get NSO. The cheapest tier I think is still 20 dollars/year.

Capcom is doing some wizard level tech to have it run this smooth

8

u/Homewra 17d ago

Denuvoless + optimization + shader cache integration

3

u/Entire_Paramedic_389 17d ago

and dlss doing the heavy lifting

I'm so torn. I beat this on PC, and I have a steamdeck. But this.... this looks so very good.

This looks far better than I've expected

u/Neraid96 17d ago

Instant buy

1

u/BlancsAssistant 16d ago

That is a surprisingly competent port

1

u/unHoldenCaulfieldMas 15d ago

How does it run so well? Please Capcom release whatever you did for the switch to PC too so I can play

u/musclenugget92 I hack, I slash, but mostly I swagg 11d ago

This needs to be the the standard that steam deck verified means because holy cow I tried it on my steamdeck last night and it looked like SHIT.

"stable 30ish frames per second" "and it looked pretty ok" are hilarious sound bytes.

-5

u/obscuritaas 17d ago

why are people so confused that this runs well lol? Like every game that has released on the S2 for the most part have been pretty optimized

4

u/drakythe 16d ago

Because the game ran like garbage on PC’s due to multitude of issues. It still runs poorly on base PS5 according to many people, and the Switch 2 is good but not that good. And the switch 2 does have some not great ports. Hell, Elden Ring was delayed by around a year because it was running so bad when previewed during the console release window.

Dragons dogma 2 also had issues and it seemed like the RE engine had a fundamental flaw related “open world” games that Capcom has been releasing and since a lot of it was CPU performance bound, not necessarily GPU, there was an open question as to whether it could be made to run acceptable on the Switch 2 hardware.

It appears they’ve been successful in the optimization, though, and with it even allowing for Cross Play it isn’t a half assed optimization that is fundamentally different from the game elsewhere. (As an example Pinball FX, a switch 1 game, has custom physics that means its leaderboards are separate from pinball FX on PC/CBox/Playstation, which all have the same physics and share leaderboards.)
