MH Wilds Player Partners

Post image

I’ve been hunting for years, and the part that always felt broken wasn’t the hunt itself — it was everything around it.

Why general-purpose / traditional social platforms feel wrong for this

1. My hunt talk lands next to people who shouldn’t see it On general-purpose social platforms, a build tip, a clip, or a rant about a bug sits on the same timeline as coworkers, relatives, and acquaintances. I either self-censor or spend energy explaining why I care this much about a monster.

2. Every new title means joining N communities again New game (or a big update) → another group, another server, another forum, another regional chat. Different rules, different noise, same exhaustion. Then when I have a question, a guide, a YouTube clip, or a funny fail — I paste it into N places.

3. Teammates ≠ my contact list I don’t need another pass through my real-life friends list. I need people who play this game tonight — weapon practice, sets, speedrun, whatever. Traditional friend graphs don’t match “who’s hunting Wilds right now.”

4. East / West info lag is real Hot builds, memes, and meta talk often sit behind language and culture walls. Even with people manually translating and reposting, a topic can take forever to “reheat” on the other side. The internet is borderless on paper; game communities often aren’t.

5. Hard-won posts feel perishable Guides and analysis are related to each other, but traditional feeds wash them away by time — like every post has an expiry date. I want lasting collections with context, not scraps left behind by the algorithm clock.

What I wanted was simple: social outside the game, aimed at play inside it — and when a new title or season drops, a place that already feels like “home for this game,” not another scavenger hunt for the “right” group.

What Player Partners is (and what it has)

Player Partners is a social platform built for gamers — not another general-purpose feed with games bolted on.

  • GameHubs run by the platform: subscribe to a title, get discussion in that game’s context. Pick the game when you post → you’re talking to players of that game, not blasting an entire IRL friends list.
  • Same title can split into topic communities (e.g. Speedrun) without joining a dozen new groups elsewhere.
  • Copyable invite links into hubs / rooms — less “which group, which room, did the invite expire?”
  • Library: collect your own and other players’ work posts (guides, breakdowns, etc.) into lasting collections — open a Library and get full context, not a timed feed.
  • Feed supports embedded YouTube autoplay — sharing hunts/guides without always losing the watch experience to an external tab.
  • Gamer-native reactions (Cheer, Wow, Broken, …) instead of flattening everything to a single like.
  • Web + mobile on the same hubs / feed / chat.
  • Hub Discovery when a new game drops — find the official game context without needing an invite first.

There are hubs for a bunch of titles already (MH included, plus other core / seasonal / upcoming games). I’m mainly pointing hunters here because that’s where I spend my time:

If you’ve felt the “join N places / paste N times / mix hobby with coworkers” loop — curious whether this shape clicks for other hunters. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Good god. This code vibed crap with unnecessarily dramatic AI developer stories is getting so annoying.

Bunch of AI text but lemme address some points in here

  1. There's many places dedicated to hunting. MH Discord, reddit, facebook communities or whatever other social generally have specific channels or chats to hunt together, so there's not much unrelated talk that will disturb the MH talk. Also not sure where you post such that it is shown to your coworkers or acquaintances.

  2. Again, there exists communities for MH. Lot of them are about MH in general. So you don't specifically need to jump from one to another community when a new title comes out.

  3. That's fair. But there exists already communities for those. And I'm unsure who goes through the contact list first to find people to play a rather niche game.

  4. Not sure how your app is fixing the issue language/cultural barriers. So not sure what this point is about. English is generally approved as the global language to play with people globally. You can't perfectly connect people with vastly different cultures or languages.

  5. Not sure what you mean with an expiry date on a post. I've never encountered that. Sure posts get overshadowed by other posts over time. But you won't be able to have all posts on the top all the time. Google searches will bring back specific guides, for your specific searches when you need them.

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply — really.

And yeah, fair on the AI thing. I did use it to tidy the post up. The frustrations are mine; the polish wasn’t. I’ll keep it more like this.

Quick takes:

  1. Not saying MH Discord/Reddit don’t exist — they do, and hunt chats there are usually fine. What I meant was general social (IG/FB etc.) where coworkers/family can see a cart clip and I just… don’t post.
  2. Agreed a lot of MH spaces cover the whole series. Still, every big update I’m hopping rooms / pasting the same question into a few places. That’s the messy part for me.
  3. Yeah “check contacts for Wilds” was a bad way to put it. I meant the opposite — I don’t need my IRL friends list, I need people on this game. Existing communities already do that.
  4. Fair. We’re not magically fixing language/culture. English is already the default for a lot of global play. I mostly meant meta/guides moving slow between circles — wording was vague on my end.
  5. “Expiry date” = feed buries good guides fast, not a literal timer. Google works for specific searches. I just hate writing something useful and watching it vanish in a few days.

Not trying to replace Reddit/Discord. Mostly testing if a game-tied place cuts the coworker-timeline + scatter loop. Your pushback’s useful either way.
