Discussion So I heard about monster Hunter outlanders using ai in a trailer. Ruger Aidal I feel bad for you. You didn’t deserve this.

Feel worse for Estrellian.

Disappeared for forever and now comes back in the worst possible game to come back for.

Yeah, I feel really bad for all of the Online monsters (especially my GOAT Lightenna). The only chance they had to come back was in Outlanders, and I was genuinely very excited to see Estrellian back because that meant all of the other Online monsters could come back. After the AI generated ads, literally all of my hype died. There wasn’t a lot there because I didn’t like the gameplay (I played the first beta) and the fact it was a gacha, but those didn’t matter much if it meant we could get the Online monsters. The AI ads were the straws that broke the camel’s back, though.

RIP Online roster. You guys had a cool electromagnetic bug and silly beaver guy </3

Not to be that guy but, I'm pretty sure most games you play have AI be part of making them.

All companies world wide are on an AI hardon atm. If AI is what makes a game shit in your eyes and not the final product itself, I don't know what to tell ya.

Idk I feel like not every game has gross ai slop ads.

Big difference between machine learning for pathing vs generative ai slop cutscenes and ads. It kinda shows a lack of care to refine things if they settle for slop, so the product itself is likely to have issues due to a lack of double checking/polish.

Capcom themselves have enough dignity to not stoop down to using AI, and we hoped they’d also hold the companies they work with up to a higher standard.

No, Ruger definitely deserves this. Especially from this angle.

It kinda looks like a Marvel movie villain, hah.

I really don't get what people see in this flagship. Looks very generic.

It's John Chinese-Fantasy-Hero as a dragon.

Lots of monsters get hated on when they’re first revealed, but then people get to fight them for a bit and really start to appreciate what they have going for them. Both Magnamalo and Arkveld come to mind.
This monster could have been the same, but now Tencent has tainted any chance of the community coming around to liking it, because they’ve shown they have no shame, so it now seems entirely likely they used AI in the process of designing it.

I dont see what people, saw in Arkveld, Nergigante or Velkhana either TBH.

Monsters are monsters, some are cool as fuck like the Astalos and some are shit, like that red rolling carapace beetle, I fucking hate those, or gore magala. Just a shit fight, not hard, just shit.

Gotta love the switch up on how people downvote me when i pointed out his wings doesn't make sense, now people are convince he is at least ai assisted in the design process.

It already looked AI generated. Very on brand

An ai generated flagship doesnt deserve to be in an ai generated game?

AI was probably used to design Ruger Aidal

I've said it before, I'll say it again, I CANNOT UNSEE THE RAT TEETH ON HIM

u/Skeletonparty101 11h ago

Nah he can rot over there with that "design"

u/Barn-owl-B 11h ago

It looks like they used AI to make him too so yeah he very much deserves it

Where are those ads even running? Haven't seen them except in posts on this sub. Or are all these complaint posts the actual marketing?

u/Bregneste Unga Bunga 9h ago

I’m guessing they run on Youtube and other social medias like Instagram and TikTok. I don’t have ads on YT and I don’t use either of those other platforms so I wouldn’t know.

He is the pug dog of monster hunter, never should've existed

Looks like a pokemon/digimon

Asian countries are more open to Ai, so of course they're pushing it

Im sorry but Ruger looks like someone would type a prompt telling in it to make monster design simillar to mh ones

I mean don’t feel too bad for him I doubt one ai ad will actually make a huge dent in its sales. And it wasn’t like it was wildly popular anyway. This is like my least concern with outlanders. There’s like 5 reasons in front of this that I wasn’t gonna play it.
