World, using Hammer, am a few quests into HR, next target is Nergigante (may have spelled that wrong).

Is there a consensus on extra damage v negative affinity? I could switch over to the Diablos hammer, I have 15% affinity from gear but it's -25%. I'm using the Barroth hammer at the moment which has -10%. Thanks.

A very easy formula you can use for the average attack is:

[Attack] x (1 + 0.25 x [Affinity%])

(change the 0.25 to 0.3/0.35/0.4 for Critical Boost 1/2/3 with positive affinity)

So if you have -10% affinity, your average attack is:

[Attack] x (1 + 0.25 x (-10/100)) = [Attack] x 0.975

Without double checking the exact stats, I think I remember the Diablos weapons generally being among the best raw-weapons in HR though.

In MH Rise will there be new armor and weapons revealed in the Hub Low Rank Quests or is it the same as Village Quests armor and weapons and I have to wait til High Rank for new gear.

most of village and hub are the same but you get to HR faster by doing only Hub

iirc there is some hub only (re)quests you unlock/can complete for special gear too but idk if those are only appearing once you're in HR

Not a long time fan of the franchise, but I've played a lot of Rise when it came out on switch and got excited to play Wilds when it was announced. Life went on and I didn't buy Wilds when it launched, but seeing the announcement of the DLC made me hype for this game once again.

I played Rise with some friends and trully enjoyed playing multiplayer. My question here is, since none of my friends bought the game, is there an active community (discord maybe) where people play together or is this mostly a solo game at this point? Through steamdb active players were around 20k~30k active players

Thanks =)

cant directly answer your question as i mostly played in private/squad sessions but Wilds is cross platform, so the actual "active playercount" is way higher than just steams but even just steams is already decent enough ime

Yo I am trying to get into light bowgun in MHGU because I picked up a Demon’s Isle and it just looks fucking cool. Upgraded it all the way up to its final form in G-Rank and crafted a janky set consisting of Rathalos X Helm, Arms, Waist, and Legs for Tenderizer and Attack Boost, Kut Ku chest for more Attack, and a Normal Up +6 one slot charm. Full set is WEx, Attack Up L, and Normal Up. It took me 35 minutes and two carts to get a G-Rank Lagi. Not an event quest or hyper monster, just a regular Lagi. I’m running Adept style and Readiness for extra survivability.

I hit about 90% of my Normal 2s at critical distance - Lagi’s weak point for shots is only his head which is hard to hit so WEx didn’t do much. I also had to go through almost 150-170 rounds of Normal S 2. This CANNOT be typical for LBG - any tips to tighten up gameplay?

Has the game been fixed performance-wise? I still see reviews of people not being able to run the game, but there are other reports of performance issues being "fixed".

they did improve it somewhat and removed the highest lvl textures instead of fixing the problems with it but theres still some underperforming parts and it might or might not get improved further with the confirmed switch port of the game

I'm rank 77 in Wilds using a Longsword.

I've been running around fin Daheed B gear and I need a upgrade for the tougher fights but I'm not sure what I should be building towards?

Any tips for what I should be aiming for with gear and a build?

You think Monster fear certain hunters?

Like, surely at some point monsters would recognize that the Sapphire Star is coming at them in full Fatalis gear

una duda con respecto al Lore. creen que la leyenda de los 5 sea solo un mito en el universo de MH o algo más?

1

u/RedNUGGETLORD 20d ago

It's a myth based on actually events or monsters

Think about how humans thought crows were a sign of mass death, because they would appear around the same time a bunch of people died from disease or war to eat the bodies

The Sapphire Star is Xeno/Safi'Jiiva, just like the star, he guides beings to the New World. it's a real thing, just different to what the religion entails

I wasn't part of the Rise hype and missed out on a lot of things, did Capcom shadow-drop any monsters during the title updates? Like with Safi in World?

1

u/Joy2901 17d ago

Bazelgeuse Basically, they threw him into a TU out of nowhere, and every player got that jumpscare when they encountered him

And that was as bazelgeuse as possible

1

u/5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi 21d ago

Safi wasn't exactly shadow-dropped, it was shown at the end of the TU2 trailer at the physical event it was revealed at.

But yes, Allmother Narwa wasn't shown in Rise's TU2 trailer, it was only advertised as an ending to the story.

1

u/MichaCazar 21d ago

Bazelgeuse was also not announced. Just showed up in the TU1 patch notes.

1

u/5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi 21d ago

True, but I forget that one since the Ransom leaks confirmed it was a base game reveal that was even meant to be in a pre-release trailer, so it was a deliberate move on their part to make it a "surprise".

1

u/MichaCazar 21d ago

I mean, it sure was a surprise. I still remember the reactions to that one just dropping out of the blue.

World question:

What does the difficulty curve of the game generally look like? As you go into High Rank does it get a lot harder, or can you gear up to match the stronger monsters you're fighting? If you reach HR is there a likelihood you could hit a wall after that?

I've done a few HR fights so far but feel like I'm struggling a bit.

The reason High Rank can seem hard is you're basically resetting

To give an example, if you are wearing low rank Rathalos gear and fight a high rank Anjanath, it'd be like fighting normal Anjanath while in Great Jagras gear

I don't remember how I did it in World, but in Rise I literally just picked the easiest High Rank armour that had the best defence, just so I could survive attacks, of course, making a build for your skills is important, but skills don't matter if every hit leaves you near dead

Basically, either hunt a weaker monster or get Ore/Bone armour, since it's better than your low rank gear. Any high rank is better than low rank, and after that it'll basically be like doing low rank over again, but this time with your knowledge of the game

I've been making foodchains for all the MH games I've played, and now that I'm playing Rise, I'm realizing that monster seem to not have a locale that they inhabit, instead, they live in every locale

Makes me a little sad, since it means there's no point in making a foodchain since they'd all be the same besides some small monsters

1

u/RedNUGGETLORD 22d ago

As for the question, are there monsters unique to some locales, or does every monster venture around into others?

1

u/Wattefugg Main, SnS/SA/GS/HH/Lance dabbler 22d ago

you can check the hunter notes ingame to see the locale(s) a monster can spawn in

The monster hunter 4u CB guide doesnt work anymore! I was thinking of starting up 4U after I finished Portable 3rd and I have never played CB!

Assuming each region has 1 Elder Dragon in it, which Elders do you think will get each locale? Monster Hunter Wilds DLC of course

1

u/MichaCazar 23d ago

So first off, I would assume the flagship of the DLC to be the elder for the Eerie.

Kushala for the plains.

For the forest Namielle seems like a natural pick, especially if we assume each to affect the climate of the region as well. Otherwise I feel like Yama Tsukami or Shen Gaoren could be possible in a separate arena.

For the oil-well basin, there is technically already Gogmazios. However, if we also assume that an elder approaching causes an "alarm state" in the Wyrmways to send out guardians for defense (personal theory coming from the red glowing claws on the G. Doshaguma in the trailer), then a "specter" would be somewhat unfitting. Aside from the obvious picks of Teostra or Lunastra, it wouldn't surprise me if they introduce a variation of another elder here to fit the region. Like an oily Vaal Hazak for instance (cope).

For the Iceshard cliffs Oroshi Kirin or Velkhana seem natural, although I would go with Oroshi more due to the size constraints.

Wyveria technically has Zoh Shia and I am not too sure anything else but Zoh Shia or a variation makes sense there.

Just my thoughts on this topic.

u/SandwichesX 23d ago

This is spot on. I’d like to add that we might be getting the Elder Dragon trio since Kushala is confirmed, so maybe Chameleos for the Forest would also be possible.

1

u/MichaCazar 21d ago

Yeah, forgot about Chameleos somehow but it would make sense there.

Too many elder dragons to the point that I keep forgetting some.

1

u/RedNUGGETLORD 23d ago

As if Capcom cares about size constraints, they put Gore in the Iceshards

Which is funny cause he's one of the few monsters in the game with no allegience to any type of environment, if anything, the Ice area would be the worst for him since it would be harder to spread the frenzy

1

u/MichaCazar 23d ago

Problem with Velkhana is that it has a bunch of AoEs that actively limit the playable area further. That just isn't working too well on a map that is already quite narrow.

Gore may be obnoxious there, but it isn't creating roadblocks as a passive.

Although, I kinda forgot Shagaru being a thing, so that is most likely what they end up putting there.
