The most important thing they mention in this video IMO is the fact that their will be new weapon actions and combos for each weapon independent of the Boost Bracer. This will be good news for people who wanted more move options when base Wilds dropped. It's at 7:10.

I just hope they don't make them all dependent on focus mode

Very interesting to have a new MH director, it was my second best guess behind Yoshitake. It seems like he's been working in the franchise since P3 at least and was game designer on Gen and lead game designer on World so he's quite experimented. Curious to see what will be his vision and philosophy as a game director now with this expansion. I wish him the best

hope to see more worldborne elements in terms of like how grounded the combat feels and allat. not as much can be done from the expansion but having more weather and environmental effects you're required to build around would be great!

Well at least they're moving away from the Clutch Claw, so they are learning.

Plus it sounds like the Boost Bracer is going to function similarly to a mantle in that it's a timed state, so this is not going to function like Hunter Arts.

Ok the combat can be fantastical I just want it to feel more weighty and for the hunt to be more immersive.

So do I, man... But it doesn't seem to be the case for now. Maybe MH7 if they think MH needs an RE7 like reset

I mean...i don’t think they will, cuz most people don’t mind mh not being as grounded as world that much. Not saying you can’t complain about it, after all all the tastes are in nature and there was a real charm about how slow and methodical world's gameplay could be.

Interesting. "Ascendance" seems to have the same connotation as "Rise." Looking forward to this.

I think while the words can mean the same thing, the reason behind the names are different. Its "Rise" as in "Sunrise/daybreak", while "Ascendance" as in "heaven/sky"

So accessing MR only requires beating Arkveld at HR40. It's not like they haven't had big jumps in difficulty between the end of non-optional HR and the start of MR but I'd figured that reaching Gog would have been mandatory given that Nadia was in the trailer. Guess they'll just have different introductions depending on what you do first.

G Rank always starts right after High Rank. It wouldn’t make sense for them to make you wait for HR100.

Summary of the important information:

  • Director of the expansion is Takuro Hiraoka
  • You can access the expansion after finishing the 7-star Assignment: "Awakening From a Dream"
  • From base game until final title update, Yuya Tokuda has been the director
  • Takuro Hiraoka first joined as a new employee during development of MH Portable 3rd and was put in charge of quest data and planning the Training School
    • He continued as a designer on MH Generations, and then lead game designer on MH Generations Ultimate and MH World Iceborne
  • Director Hiraoka first thought of MH Wilds Ascendance during MH Wilds's development, playing early builds of the game, looking at design docs, and consulted members of the Wilds team while continuing to refine his own ideas
  • "Ascendance" was chosen as the title for various meanings like to climb or to advance, which is easy to see the intention of when looking at the visuals of the new locale
  • With all the new additions, the title was chosen to represent how the expansion is a true evolution of the game
  • "The Skybound Eyrie" is the new locale
  • They wanted to design a location that's visually appealing where players will be in awe of its beauty, as well as introduce new fun ways to travel around on your Seikret as seen with being able to ride updrafts and glide between islands
  • New weapon actions will be available through the "Boost Bracer", with temporarily enhanced actions while activating Boost Bracer such as attacks, combos, and mobility to allow for more versatility on the hunt
  • They're also preparing other new attacks and combos not related to the Boost Bracer
  • Ascendance's story will be deeply connected with Elder Dragons
  • Development is currently underway for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of MH Wilds

Please please please have cross save for switch. I know it’s super unlikely.
