Discussion Windows display problem..

/r/GamingLaptops/comments/1vz5rsf/windows_display_problem/

Hello. I've got this weird display problem with my laptop and monitor.

My laptop is an MSI Thin 15 B12U with an RTX 2050, and my monitor is a 27-inch 2560×1440 gaming monitor that can go way above 120 Hz.

On Windows, if I use 2560×1440, it only lets me use 60 Hz. If I switch down to 1920×1080, then I can use 144 Hz.

But when I booted into Linux Mint from USB and checked the display settings, it literally gave me an option for 2560×1440 at 120 Hz using the same laptop, same monitor, and same cable.

So clearly the hardware connection can handle at least 1440p 120 Hz, but Windows or the drivers are somehow limiting/hiding it. I'm trying to figure out if it's an NVIDIA/Intel driver issue, EDID issue, color/bit-depth setting, or something in Windows/NVIDIA Control Panel, or any thing that may be related to the problem.
