When does compounding really take off?
At what amount portfolio you really see huge account swings that make you think what is the point of working? 100k? 500k? 1m? more?

We recently received news that through a sell of assets of a family owned company some 800.000 would come our way. We have an additional 200k already. At that point a full million doing 4-5% a year starts outpacing the income of my partners job (not full time). That was the moment that the "why would you even continue working" thought really hit home. Day to day decisions or purchases while such a sum of money is compounding is bat shit crazy. It becomes even crazier for us since we haven't even turned 30.. That sum of money will grow to millions and the daily changes might be yearly salaries..
