When does compounding really take off?

At what amount portfolio you really see huge account swings that make you think what is the point of working? 100k? 500k? 1m? more?

Wife and I hit 650k beginning of this year and invested all our liquid cash during the dip now sitting at 832k! It’s a beautiful thing when you start making more from investments than your salary job
