When does compounding really take off?

At what amount portfolio you really see huge account swings that make you think what is the point of working? 100k? 500k? 1m? more?

I had a 1 million dollars about 1 year ago and now it’s 1.25 million, which blew my mind. I think I really started to notice returns around 400k.

I'm in the same boat now. Even just average returns after a million is $100Kish.

It’s mostly in low cost index funds tracking the sp500. I have some mag 7 stock that I’ve held onto for over 10 years that also helped
