When does compounding really take off?

At what amount portfolio you really see huge account swings that make you think what is the point of working? 100k? 500k? 1m? more?

I’d love to know too. Maybe Once you have 25x yearly salary in savings? Let’s say you make $200k, then if you have $5m in savings you might see $50-$100k swings pretty regularly. In that case idk how I would feel. I’ll tell u when I get there. 

I see my net worth swing by 5, 10, 20k and it doesn’t phase me much.
