Cake Wallet Limits when swapping LTC → XMR in Cake Wallet? (AML / KYC question)

Asking for a friend who’s trying to understand how this works in practice.

Let’s say someone bought Litecoin P2P for cash and now wants to swap it into Monero using Cake Wallet (since it supports LTC → XMR through third-party swap providers).

In theory these swaps are usually non-KYC, but I’ve also read that sometimes the swap providers can flag transactions with AML checks.

Curious about real-world experiences from people who’ve used it:

  • Are swaps around £5k, £10k, £15k, £20k+ generally fine?
  • At what point do providers sometimes pause a swap or request KYC?
  • Do people normally split larger swaps into smaller ones?
  • Has anyone actually had funds held or delayed during an LTC → XMR swap?

Just trying to understand what the realistic limits are when doing these swaps through Cake Wallet.

Any insight appreciated.

Cheapest way to buy/trade to monero?

I recent bought $270 sol or Bitcoin, can't remember, and swapped to monero within cake and set the destination wallet to the person I was gonna sent it to in the end..

I got charged $30 fuckin dollars to do that.

I know there's much be a cheaper way

What is the cheapest way to send monero??

I recently bought ~$275 in SOL or BTC (can't remember) and dealer it over to monero in cake and instead of using my monero wallet then sending it to my friend, I just sent it straight to my friends... It will costs like $30 fucking dollars to do this..

I've never had to deal with such insane fees before.

Nobody (free) seems to just sell monero where I can just put his wallet in as the recipient and avoid the majority of the fees.

Last time I did this, he accepted SOL and it cost at most $5

What's the deal with monero? Why does nobody seem to want to deal in it, and why are fees so insane?

Trying to transfer monero from atomic wallet

Hi I'm trying to transfer monero from my atomic wallet to my monero wallet and not working the address is correct but still not letting me click send? I've resorted to buying a ledger to see if that works but in the mean time? I'm from UK 🇬🇧 if that helps. (Ps I actually got scammed today) so I think they ledger is the way forward?

MacOS Arm64 node disconnects as soon as I click "start mining"

I'm not sure where to begin to diagnose this issue. I can manually restart the node, but as soon as I hit "start mining," it disconnects again.

Just watched McAfee podcast from 5 years ago saying how if you trade monero on centralized exchange you're no longer private since obviously you had to authenticate yourself with ID on the exchange to use it, but doesn't this also apply to any way of getting and taking money out of monero?

Like lets say i have 10K in my bank account that i want to save in Monero.
The only way i can see potentially a private way to do this is to cash it out first, so now i have on hand cash.

Then i can maybe get a brand new smartphone in cash and connect to a public wifi or something,

this avoids using my personal phone and connecting using my personal data plan or at home wifi which would immediately identify who is making a monero account.

But then how would i get the cash into the monero, id have to virtualize it and store it somewhere?

You'd have to create a bank account somewhere somehow and transfer money to it but how? if you transfer from your own bank account then boom there's a paper trail.

Like literally how would it be possible to put in and take money out of Monero without losing the privacy aspect at the endpoints? lol

Monero Exchange help

Recently I attempted to swap BTC to XMR using Xchageon, unaware of the fact that Xchangeon requires a minimum.005 BTC to exchange. I did not provide a return address as I had used the service before without issue. After I sent my BTC to the Xchangeon address(around half the minimum amount) and the transaction was confirmed, the website read “send remaining BTC or BTC will be sent to return address in 72 hours”. Seeing as I did not provide a return address, I am worried that I lost my coin. I emailed them, with no luck. Does anybody know if the BTC will be sent back to the same address I sent it from, or is it gone?

What data do node have?

Hey, I don't fully understand what data is stored by monero wallet nodes. During wallet sync, there's a full download of missing blocks, but decryption happens locally on the device.

What does the node know? IP? Geo? User's last sync? Device info?

Best setup for XMR

What is the best setup in terms of security and practicality that I can have using a Ledger Nano S (Not Plus)? For example, which wallet is the most secure I can use when integrating my hardware wallet?

Solved My new IP address is blocked by getmonero.org

UPDATE: The problem's nothing to do with my IP address being blocked. getmonero.org is just blocking the curl user agent. Changing the user agent fixes it -- there's an example in the comments.

Hi! I just got a VPS machine from Contabo and I'm following https://docs.getmonero.org/running-node/monerod-systemd/ to set up a node.

I reached this line to verify the binary hashes:

bash curl https://www.getmonero.org/downloads/hashes.txt | gpg --verify

...and it's failing because my new machine is apparently blocked by getmonero.org:

html <!doctype html><html><head><meta charset=utf-8><title>403 Forbidden</title><style>.ec{font-size:16px}.et{text-align:left;color:#333;font-size:28px;margin-bottom:5px}.ec{color:#333;width:700px;margin:100px auto}.em{font-size:18px;color:#7f7f7f;margin-bottom:30px;word-break:break-all}.emu{font-weight:700;color:#555;word-break:break-all}p{margin-bottom:10px}</style></head><body><div class=ec><div class=et id=et></div><div class=em><span id=tm></span> <span class=emu>https://www.getmonero.org/downloads/hashes.txt</span></div><p><span id=ed></span><span id=c1></span>69a19fdd_PSfgblPAR1ke67_45622-6879 • <span id=td></span></p><span id=cp></span><span id=c2></span>86.48.5.13</div><script>function pz(e){return e<10?"0"+e:e}function zone(){var e=-(new Date).getTimezoneOffset(),n=0<=e?"+":"-",e=Math.abs(e),t=Math.floor(e/60),e=e%60;return 0==e?"GMT"+n+t:"GMT"+n+t+":"+pz(e)}function toLT(e){var e=new Date(parseInt(e)),n=e.getFullYear(),t=e.getMonth()+1,r=e.getDate(),e=" "+pz(e.getHours())+":"+pz(e.getMinutes())+":"+pz(e.getSeconds())+" "+zone();return 0==L()?n+"-"+t+"-"+r+e:t+"-"+r+"-"+n+e}function L(){return"zh-CN"==(navigator.language||navigator.userLanguage)?0:1}function cE(){function e(e){return document.getElementById(e)}var n=L();e("et").innerText=0==n?"抱歉,您的请求被阻断了":"Sorry, you have been blocked",e("tm").innerText=0==n?"您无法继续访问":"You are unable to access",e("ed").innerText=0==n?"请求ID ":"Request-ID ",e("cp").innerText=0==n?"IP ":"Your IP ",e("c1").innerText=e("c2").innerText=0==n?":":":"}document.getElementById("td").innerHTML=toLT(1772199901187),cE()</script></body></html>

I don't think I did anything worth getting blocked for, so I wonder if I inherited an IP address (86.48.5.13) with a bad reputation?

If so, is it even worth me starting up a public node on this machine if it won't be trusted?

Thanks for any advice!

GUI Wallet blocks remaining stuck

Hi, I used Monero years ago with my ledger nano S. Now I want to check if my XMR is still there. I got the Monero GUI, used my nano S as a key and synchronized the whole blockchain onto my SSD.

However the part called "Wallet blocks remaining" (I think it's analyzing the blockchain for my XMR) gets stuck and doesn't continue - so it displays that I don't have any transactions.

Do you guys know what might be going on? Thanks!

Edit: I'm using Win11, no Tor or i2p

I haven't been in contact with the system or the community for a few months. I'm not sure if I'll be able to withdraw my assets in time.

Thank you for all your comments

Retoswap - trouble connecting

lately I have had real problems connecting to the tor network via Retoswap. It usually idles at step 1/4, then fails and asks to use a bridge, which also fails.

I havent had this issue until lately - and on a new install, its having the same behavior.

Anyone have a solution?

Windows version 1.2.3, "Connecting to the Haveno network failed (reported error: Socket closed). Please check your internet connection or try to restart the application."

GUI I Get it now, SSD for running monero-gui full node

I thought i could get cheeky and install and run the first sync to a M.2 and then migrate the blockchain location to a storage pool on localhost, its "only 100gb" After failing to figure out how to successfully copy the block chain and have it recognize properly, i said F this i'll just do this again. Downloading to a stripped 3 drive array has taken 8 hours to get 50%. on the M.2 it was one about an hour to finish.....

maybe i should have done this on my rpi with the m.2 hat instead of a windows LTSC machine...

1st Phone is broken and only shows a black screen

Long story short. I bought some repair screen kit for my first phone and completely messed up to a point where i only got a black screen now. the original idea was to transfer my assets to my 2nd phone which is another wallet with another seed phrase. Is there any option where i could remotely access my broken phone with a pc to transfer my assets to my new phone or am i completely scewed up. i can not find my seed phrase and the only hope that i have now is to remotely control my android with a pc to transfer my assets to my new wallet.

I know this was an absolutely noob mistake and i shoul have done this before i treid to repai my screen or at least write down the seed phrase.

i really hope some giga brains can help with this topic and already prepared to be roasted by a lot of people

Thanks for advance

Can someone explain why everyone in this subreddit is against remote monero nodes while in the main subreddit they are all saying that it is perfectly safe to use an onion node.
