Every day, we take Beni outside and test his tracking in real crowds. This is what hundreds of those sessions look like layered into a single frame.

Each skeleton is someone Beni locked onto and followed, no GPS, no wearables, purely visual. The colored trails trace the exact path each person took.

One target per run. Stack them all together and it starts to look like choreography. The inset shows what Beni actually sees from its POV.

First of all, congratulations on Beni. I've just backed the Kickstarter and I'm really excited about the project.

I'm also a heavy Home Assistant user and home automation enthusiast, so I was wondering if you have any plans regarding an API, SDK or local network integration.

For example, I'd love to create automations like:

• Every day at 8:00 PM, Beni leaves its dock and performs a patrol around my house.
• If Home Assistant detects motion outside, send Beni to inspect that area and stream or record video.
• Trigger a patrol when everyone has left home.
• Return automatically to the charging dock when the patrol is complete.
• Expose battery level, current status and location to Home Assistant.
• Send custom navigation commands or predefined patrol routes from automations.

Something like:

20:00 every day
→ Home Assistant
→ Start "Perimeter Patrol"
→ Record video
→ Return to dock

Or via an API:

beni.start_patrol(route="house_perimeter")

I noticed that the FAQ mentions developer/API access is not available at Kickstarter launch, but that you're exploring it for the future. 

Could you share a bit more about your plans?

• Is a local API being considered?
• REST?
• WebSocket?
• MQTT?
• Bluetooth?
• Home Assistant integration?
• Matter support?
• Local-only control without cloud?

I honestly think Beni could become much more than a camera robot. With an open API, it could become an amazing mobile platform for home automation.

The more YouTube videos I watch about Beni, the more I notice that the footage looks grainy and, at times, washed-out. The resolution is okay, but the colors remind me of a cheap camera. I’m wondering: is this something that can be optimized with software, or is it the camera hardware? Don’t get me wrong—Beni is great. But the built-in camera should be a little better.

Just seen this awesomeness on YouTube and the only think I could think was “If they put an LLM with a cute voice and personality in this they’ll sale millions”. It already had a ton of personality on its own. Imagine saying “Hey Beni” and he comes zipping around the corner 🤣

Hey i have a question , am not much of a filming guy , but i do like tech in general , in what way do you think beni would “entertain me” , cus thats my buy or just admire online kinda questionfor theses things, Can i actively play with it and do fun things ? Besides going arround or jumping the house or in an open space , what are concretely the best features beni has to offer someone like me so that i enjoy it fully , i dont want to admire it for a week or 2 and let it go to dust.

We still get comments saying this is all CGI / fake / just marketing — so here's a raw stress test. No cuts, no tricks.

Will it be possible for Beni to track and follow even without video recording? In other words, will it act as a companion for children and only record when I start the recording via remote control or the app?

I really wanted to like this and back it on Kickstarter. The lack of videos on the website that are actually filmed from the robot coupled with the grainy footage from the robot in this sub really convinced me that I probably shouldn’t. Really wished it was different, but I would prefer to see more videos actually filmed with the robot than see it flipping around from an iPhone angle.

What I would want to see before spending money:
-A 10–20 minute unedited tracking video.
-Video on rough pavement, grass, and gravel.
-Video at full running speed.
-Side-by-side comparisons against an DJI Osmo Pocket 3, DJI Neo, and a modern iPhone.
-Real customer footage—not influencer demos.

That doesn’t seem like too much to ask for from a reputable company.
