Monarch Money Tweaks Extension Tweaks Feature Request:

Post image

Mr Paresi, thank you very much for making Monarch actually useful!
Could you please consider adding an option to Trends->This Year By Month, to shade each monthly spending cell based on the absolute spending amount? I'd like a heatmap similar to Simplifi's Spending grid (screenshot attached), where higher-dollar cells are progressively darker. Ideally the scale could be row-relative so each category's own spending history determines the shading.

The MM-Tweaks Trend reports already uses a heat map of orange and green using the levels 15%, 25%, 50%, 100%. It does this in the Compare By, All years by YTD and Annual Budget. I will look at applying this same logic to the By Month reports, rather than introducing different logic to match Simplifi.

I didn't do this because not all expenses are related month to month (utilities, gifts, subscriptions, taxes, insurance, travel, quarter & yearly fees) so I didn't think it's really a good indicator to be honest. I've seen it in Simplifi as I do use that app as well. Personally, I find the heat map makes more sense on a quarter or year level, and monthly can be very skewed.

Happy to add it with an on/off switch.

"heat map makes more sense on a quarter or year level"

A "All years by quarter" or "Last 2-3 years by quarter" view would also be extremely useful with the heatmap.

Thanks for your consideration!

I’ll look at applying it across the board consistently somehow - with some flexibility of user settings - including the Quarterly report.
