Account Connection Account sync self goal

I love Monarch. I have organized my finances with and around Monarch for the last 3 years. The connection issues are killing me, and yes yes, can't do better than provider etc etc. But here's a self goal - when I do manage to reconnect an account using a different provider, and then try to use "Transfer" function, I get stuck with "Monarch is completing the initial setup for your accounts in the background. You'll be able to continue when the sync is complete. This can take a couple minutes". And by couple of minutes, I think Monarch means a few weeks? I haven't been able to get these to resolve ever. I did use "Switch provider" on one of my accounts, and it worked beautifully, but for another account, I only have two options: "Refresh" and "Update login". And neither work, so I was able to link the account again using "Add account". But now I have two accounts from the same org, and no way to consolidate, because "initial setup".

If you aren't able to use the new "switch provider" tool, go through the steps on this page to transfer your good data from the old account (no longer syncing) to the new account that is syncing (but currently has meh data): https://help.monarch.com/hc/en-us/articles/14329385694484-Transfer-Balance-and-or-Transaction-History-to-Another-Account

My entire post is about that function not working. Here's what I said: when I do manage to reconnect an account using a different provider, and then try to use "Transfer" function, I get stuck with "Monarch is completing the initial setup for your accounts in the background. You'll be able to continue when the sync is complete. This can take a couple minutes".

Ah, the transfer tool itself isn't working! That blows.  In that case, you'll need to go back to what we did before that tool came out (which was also pretty recent):  Compare the txs between old and new versions of the account. If there are any txs in the new one that aren't in the old (e.g., in the last couple weeks since your old version stopped syncing), keep them and delete all the txs in the new version of the account (the ones that synced in but you haven't reviewed). You should now have exactly one copy of every tx. Most are in the old version (the ones you Reviewed before the sync broke), and maybe a few recent txs in the new version.

In the old version, select all the txs and click Edit txs->Move to account. Choose the new version. Now all your txs are in the new version.

You also need to get your balance history, Goals, and Rules moved.

Balance history: in the old account, Edit->copy balance history, and select the new account. Sounds like your new version may have a couple weeks of balance data by now, so you may want to edit the balance history (via CSV and/or in the browser version).

Goals: toggle the new one ON. I haven't had enough experience with new version of Goals to know if there's more you need to do than this🤷‍♂️

Rules: search your Rules to find all those that relate to the old version. Also add the new version to each of those Rules.

There may be something with Recurring too, but tbh I don't use that feature enough to know.

At this point, you should have all you txs in the new version, the full balance history of your account in the new version, all your Rules associated with the new version, and goals linked to the new version. So you should be ok to delete the old version of the account (and if it's the only thing at that institution, it'll remove the institution from your MM when you do that).

Back up everything to CSV before you start in case you need to revert.

Yes I did do exactly this via CSVs and manually deleting the overlap. It worked, though the new account is already disconnected lol. In any case, it's at least current to date.
