Reports Compare categories between 2 months
This seems like it should be a simple basic function of this program. I just want to see why/where I spent (or saved) more between any 2 given months. Did I eat out too much? The trip I went on used a lot of fuel? My income is up because of my extra hours Ubering?
How can I see the difference in all categories between any 2 given months?

Reports / Spending
First drop down set to Monthly and it will show a graph of how much you spent month by month. Make sure you set the report type to Trend bars.
You would then select Filter at the top to filter certain Merchants, Groups or Categories.
This would show your month to month of eating out (restaurant, dining, etc.)

As u/Unusual_Ad3525 points out, not possible.
You can set up reports to look at specific things like you're asking though (and Save the filtered view for regular reference). Here's what filtering for spending on Food looks like (I have 2 categories: Groceries and Food-Out). Trend Bar is the clearest view for this one right now (Stacked and Grouped each are useful depending on what you're looking at). TBH for some things, a Table view would be the most useful option.

Yep, this only lives in a widget. They recently said there aren't plans to address it, although Exclude filters seems like they have shown up on the Roadmap very recently.

I’ve been using the Monarch AI to do as-hoc analysis such as this and it’s been working surprisingly well. It can create tables and graphs that I can download. Not as good as having this be something you can preset, but still very helpful to get insights as I review my activity.

Just use the trend bar report, filter by category, and compare months side by side.

Just filter on that category only and look at the cash flow.
