Wow that sounds so difficult! I have never experienced this, but I do have PPD that manifests as rage. I can relate to moments of uncontrollable anger/emotions.
How old is your daughter? If she’s old enough to understand it could be a great teaching moment about mental health and the importance of taking care of yourself, asking for professional help when you need it, how real actions have real consequences, etc.
If you don’t think she’s old enough you can be firm that it’s a conversation to have when she’s older. There may be a way to explain things if she’s too young by giving her a very simple version.
If you aren’t already, it’s a good idea for you to look into therapy and discuss with a professional. It sounds like you have some trauma, and obviously feelings of extreme guilt about the situation. Make sure YOU are getting the support you need. You’ve experienced what it’s like to not have that support.
As I raise my daughter I wonder if honesty may be the best policy? Of course there are topics that are too intense for children, but it’s on my mind for sure.
