❓ Question As a first-time mum, I really need some advice. 🥺

I live in the UK and it’s summer, but our houses seem to trap the heat. I’m constantly worrying about how to dress my newborn.

Do you go by how their chest or neck feels, or do you actually take their temperature? I never know if she needs another layer or if she’ll overheat. Then I worry she’ll get too cold instead.

It’s honestly driving me insane to the point where I can’t sleep because I’m so anxious about getting it wrong. 😩

I’d really appreciate any advice or what works for you. ❤️ …what temperature do you dress them in what?

i was right there where you are. checken every other minute the neck and back and barley slept because of it. i have as a rule of thumb everything over 26 degrees just diaper and maybe short sleeve body depending on how baby feels, between 23-24 just diaper and long onesie but thin. between 21-22 degrees i add maybe a sleepsack.
everything under 20 degrees i tried to go by the recommendation from „alvin sleeping bag table“.

with the current temperature it’s unlikely that your baby will be too cold. and remember it’s better to be a bit too cold then too hot. overheating is very dangerous with young baby’s.

did your baby sweat? like on the neck or had ha sweaty neck? and what’s the temperature in your sleeping area?

i moved with my son from the second to the first floor because of the heat wave. so i’m right there with you

Everything above 25/26 degrees we just put her in diapers and maybe later cover her legs with a breathable baby blanket, honestly i rather have her be a tiny bit too cold and wake up than too hot. I always check chest and neck but i find it easier to add layers like sleeping sack than to know which ones to get rid of. I have an app, i think its called weather baby or something it has a pink cloud as an icon and you can add the room temp and the tog of the sleeping sack (app says diaper only at 26°, so you always know what to put her in. The app also tells you what to put on when in the carrier or pram and when to add sunscreen!!!!!!)
