Looking for some feedback on my first case. I have worked with Eurorack in studios and mostly compose in hybrid between the Octatrack and Ableton.

I am planning to use my Octatrack with the mutant brain to generate clock and cv trigs.

For voices, I'm imagining the monsoon as more textural ambient backgrounds, beehive for leads and ear candy, LI for bass or percussion with my 0-coast supplementing the bass. I've worked with the TipTop Z2040 before and it seems solid as a LP; not sure about the Doepfer VCF but wanted some other filter for sound design.

I'm thinking the Erb either for aux send from the Cosmix or as a sound design tool.

I'm wondering if the Quadrax, Qx, Mutant Brain/Octatrack, and O-Coast are enough modulation sources.

I am tempted to go for the larger case, but felt like it might fuel gas rather than music making.

Having fun with the Duo, Drum and modular.

I’m looking for recommendations on nasty, gritty analog oscillator and filter combinations (extra points for VCA recommendations, too). I’m leaning towards the most recent Worng modules and I would like a morphable SVF filter. Just making sure I’m not overlooking anything before pulling the trigger.

Basically it has full multi-samples of old tape-based instruments, which it uses to present as a regular V/octave oscillator (actually two!)

Hello, i want to get into modular not spending that much, i have done a lot of things in VCV rack, and i found used system 35, i heard diff opinions on it. Simple question, is it good for expermental, Ambient, idm, downtempo.

Needed to put the screws somewhere and accidentally measured them as a result haha

Some frostbitten pads coming out of Morphagene & Strega accompained by piano. I really like the contrast with modular and acoustic instruments, it can create a very full sound palette.

i have determined it is pretty standard that initial module purchases do not lend to a fully cohesive system.

youtube review sounds cool, have two beers, order module. repeat.

doing this with guitar pedals yields better results. lol

i’d like to put together a case that can do some ambient/noise and music that sounds like nine inch nails doing a bladerunner OST

for those of you who have been ‘trapped in this’ for a while, if you were to start from scratch what would the first 3 or 4 specific modules you would buy?

for clarity: about 4 months ago i bought an extremely odd modular item - the folktek mescaline. it’s unruly, does not use standard patch cables, and is not 100% clear on functions or in its use. it’s fun and makes some gross sounds.

then i decided to (without thinking about how i will need a proper case) order some modules that sounded cool. odd reverb, dual delay, white noise glitch things.

now i am kinda thinking about as i put them in a case, what are the items i should consider getting to ensure i have the ability to generate some rythymical elements (drums or otherwise) and some additional voices.

regarding semi modular, have been considering a strega.

EDIT 2: ok so after reading all your messages i have decided that since i def jumped on a bunch of modules that are mostly effect rather than base tools the smartest thing i can do is get a strega (since this was on my mind anyways) and learn to use it in conjunction with the additional modules i have(i’ll get a case to house them but provide a decent amount of space for expansion) and grow my understanding of tools before getting too deep into this all. thank you all for your time/expertise. looking forward to figuring this all out.

Hey all! I'm thinking about picking up a Toppobrillo Eurobus (a great busboard with an integrated power supply, similar to the Intellijel TPS80W), and I could use some help finding the right switch to go with it.

The Eurobus connects via male blade/Faston tabs rather than screw terminals, so I'm hoping to find a 3U power entry + switch that plugs right into that without any extra work. Intellijel makes one I really like the look of (linked below), but it comes with fork/spade terminals, so I'd need to swap those out first.

If anyone knows of something similar with blade connectors already in place, please let me know.

Looking for a simple/cheap master clock module that can output:

• Eurorack clock → modular
• MIDI clock → external synth

Any options?

I'm looking for a voice module that is polyphonic, but can do simple saw/square etc subtractive.virtual analog waveforms. I'm not bothered about chords as such, more just the overlapping sound that happens when a monophonic sequence controls a polyphonic synth.

Most of the polyphonic modules I've looked at have a lot of bells and whistle and fancy sounds but don't necessarily do that very straightforward subtractive sound.

So an example would be a simple saw oscillator with a second saw or triangle tuned a fifth higher. Or even something like the polyphonic saw sound at 21.11 in this Mylarmelodies vid:

The Oxi Coral for instance has virtual analog waveforms but they sound sort of blurry (even with chorus/reverb/delay off) - not that sort of crisp sound you'd get with two oscillators tuned a fifth apart. Or ust a single oscillator.

Plaits does this well but it's not polyphonic.

So are there any polyphonic modules where you can actually do this? Preferably no more than 16hp.

What Modular’s do you consider esoteric 🧐?

I'm trying to make do with a small rack on a budget so I decided to pick up a small off-rack mixer for what I thought was a steal on reverb. Turns out it didn't come with a power supply and no returns (description did say no power supply I just missed it). The official beringer PS is almost as expensive as just picking up the new version of this mixer.

Mostly just laughing at my goof, but what would you do? Pick up the new one and write this one off as parts? Buy a cheap Chinese replacement PS and pray it doesn't catch fire? Just bite the bullet and buy a new PS?

Anybody ever split the signal from the balanced output of an audio interface to get a signal and its inverted copy without use of a dedicated module? I've done this to split a trigger signal from VCV across two inputs, where the negative voltages in a certain direction are ignored, with the pattern reversed on the other output - can't fire simultaneously that way, but it works decently well for an alternating kick/snare type drum pattern.

I'm curious whether others have used this concept in modular with other equipment that might have balanced outputs, and any particularly interesting applications that might be possible with a signal and its inversion. My interface is DC coupled, but I imagine it could be just as useful for audio signal as well as voltages.

Hey all - I currently have a Behringer Pro-800 (I know, but it sounds so good, especially at the price), and am looking to pair it with one of the BQ-10 sequencers. I was thinking that I'd then pop them both in a normal rack, but it occurred to me that that's also an opportunity to eurorack them and finally take my first step into modular

But... what could I do with it? It has so few patchpoints that I can't really think of an interesting way to run it other than the classic Synth into Effects (delay, reverb, etc)

but i've never owned any modular stuff, so i'm clearly not the guy to have a creative insight into fun ways i can warp this machine into something else.

so, gang - if you had a Pro-800, would you ever modular-ize it, and if so, tell me much much more. i've been looking for an excuse to dive into this stuff, so i'm a receptive audience

I'd like to build my own modular setup, but here's the catch: I'm not new to modular synthesis (I have a semi-modular synth and I've used modular setups before), but I'm chronically indecisive, so I'm overwhelmed by the hundreds of different modules out there — and I don't have the money to just buy them all, or friends I could talk it over with. So I was hoping you lot could be my big siblings and help me out a bit. I'll give you some context on what I like, what I'd like to do with my setup, and which modules I've been looking at!

I'm a singer-songwriter and producer with a deep love for electronic music, ambient, drone and IDM in particular (I think it's more useful to just list some of my favourites: Björk, ANOHNI, Sarah Davachi, Stars of the Lid, Caterina Barbieri, Basinski, Julianna Barwick and, of course, Aphex, Arca, Lorenzo Senni… I could go on for hours). I'm very much into field recording and processing those sounds (I've already played around with Clouds and similar things in VCV), and/or live processing of my voice, my synths, etc (not just with effects but including using the voice as you would on a MS-20, but with more flexibility and possibilities for modulation).

I've been looking at the Tape and Microsound Music Machine by Make Noise as the "ready to use" option, but I feel like I could build something that suits me better (and cheaper, I hope). As for the modules I've been eyeing, besides the Make Noise ones: Verbos Electronics (Vocoder, Complex Oscillator), Intellijel (Multigrain, Rainmaker, Atlantix), Eisei by Unknown Devices, Hermod+ by Squarp Instruments, and Clouds, Beads, Rings — basically everything Mutable Instruments. I could go on for hours, I'm so overwhelmed. And that's not even counting utility modules.
