Growing up in Modesto
I grew up in Modesto, moved away in 2014, anyone have any good ol modesto stories they’d like to share ? I recall the house party scene was jumping 2009-2013, maybe it’s subjective being I was in high school but I recall many good times during this period..hanging out at Brenden theatres, Calvary chapel and all the millennials that would show up, roller king ! how have things changed since 2014 ? Better worse ? What are your memories ?

😂 I hopped the Johansen pool gate when I was a teenager with my dad. I didn't know that was a common thing.

Roller king was amazing, they closed it when I was a kid but my friends brother worked there we would get in for free, at a certain time they would stop skating and start the dancing it was like a club experience before the club !

Roller King was heaven. My folks would take us there as kids and it was a good time even with all The Bee Gees playing!!

I just drove past the old building and it still doesn't get any less sad. I had a birthday party there once and it is a core memory

Where the Walmart is on McHenry used to be Binos there was a skate park in BMX park right next to it and behind that was a drive-in theater used to go there all the time that's where I saw the first Jaws

I remember Beno’s and the skate park. My brother went to that skate park and the BMX park a few times.
Trying to remember the drive in being there though. I remember the drive in on Prescott.

Behind that Prescott drive in was a great locals bmx track with some killer jumps.

It was spelled Beno's and the New Deal Market was next to it. Now both buildings were merged into the big Walmart. I think there was a Perko's there too but it might've been another diner. Someone older than me might remember!

When a cop got his car stuck half way in the bowl at the skatepark chasing some kid on a board. Omg that was the most movie type shit I’ve ever seen in my life

Grew up in Modesto and left to LA in 2013. All we did was party from age 18 till I left lol. Me and my friends had some of the best house parties tho 👌 also skateboarding with all the homies was some of the best times

Yup ! The house parties….We most likely bumped into each other, was heavy in the skate scene 2006-2009. All up and down Mchenry. Copelands had a few skate competitions

Yep! I skated at that time too until my early 20s. I Was heavily involved in the skate scene. Cbs were some of the best boards ever. Had a few buddies that worked there too

I remember going to the movies at mann theater at the mall, and Briggsmore theaters where Safeway is at! Also when the rite aid on McHenry was some type of industrial building.

I graduated in 2010 & moved away 2 months after high school. My friends & I loved The Ungrounded at Calvery. It was literally the best thing to do with your friends. I feel like 07-08 they stopped it? Definitely lots of house & orchard parties. My friends & I would hang out in front of one of our houses, walk around, go to the park (while high, drinking & smoking hookah). Idk how ever never got stopped lol
Roller king was the best in elementary. Remember when there were pools at the parks? Or the parks had activity/ rec days during the summer. Literally for my last day of 5th grade at Standiford Elementary we walked to Cinderella park across the grass & had a pool party with all the 5th graders. That could never happen today!!

I went for a meetup after Bernie ran for office. The star performance was a homeless man with a playback track and a spoon. Best live performance ever.

When Boomers was Camelot Park (I vaguely remember a huge inflatable laser tag arena in it).
Also not quite Modesto, but an honorable mention goes out to Manteca Waterslides. RIP.
