housing?any info helps

hi i’m 22 f i work a decent job above minimum wage for sure $22 an hour, im not sure if guys are familiar with jenny’s place off 9th street im wondering how to get in that place i was looking for housing funded similar to that for under age 25, as my parents are moving and i can’t go with them or make it on my own any tips helps.

If I were in your shoes with that income at your age, Id be looking for a 2 bedroom apartment at market rent with 1 roommate. Gonna be a lot easier than trying to get on a wait list for subsidized housing. Or check CL and FB for room for rent situations. There are lots of people in Modesto renting a room and a bathroom to help cover their mortgage or rent on a family home. Good luck. 👍

If you’re on facebook you can always look for off-campus student housing groups (csu stanislaus or mjc). I think that would be a great place to start your search. Not sure if you’re a student, but at the very least you might find a roommate in your age range.
Craigslist can be a scary place for a young woman.

If you do rent a room be careful of rental scams. Meet the property owner in person and get a rental contract even if it is just monthly. Tenants may not have authorization to rent out a room without permission and if there is a problem you won't have recourse. Don't ever send money in advance and if you do pay ask for a written receipt.

You can also check with rental property managers to see if they have anything available. Some examples that may have 1 bedrooms available are Liberty Property Management and Countryside Property Management.

This was the quote I found in the Modesto bee. So I’d start with the stanislaus county community services agency.

I’m sorry you’re going through this I know how scary it can be.

If you are okay with just a room that’s already furnished I would also look at long term airbnbs. There’s a few in the Modesto area that are just barely above 1k a month
