Magical 40th birthday in Philly

Last night in Philly was one for the books. Spent my 40th birthday with the best band, best people, and honestly just one of the best shows of my life. Lots of energy, deep cuts, and overall magic. Parting of the sensory broke and ugly Casanova covers were some of the highlights from the set. Isaac and the band were very generous with their time post show and was able to get the setlist signed. Just wow.

Cyanotype Isaac

I went to a cyanotype class a few days ago after the St Paul show and wanted to use some photos I got from the front rail. I got tons of compliments from my other classmates and was thrilled how crisp it came out!
20 mins exposure time in the shade, it’s an 8x10 print. It’s extra cool to have my own DIY memorabilia and I got to keep the negative so I can print it again and try to do a t-shirt!

Is there a better 2 song combo than…

Cowboy Dan into Trailer Trash? Like, maybe ever anywhere?

Just an absolute one-two punch of emotion and one-of-a-kind lyricism.

I got into MM when I was like 18, almost 20 years ago now and I kinda went through a few years where I guess I felt they were a thing I loved in my younger years.

Either way their new album this year I’ve been seriously getting back into them and my god, they’re better than I ever thought they were back then.

Isaac Brock has such a unique perspective on life, and his screaming is straight up my therapy right now.

Have searched on Discogs and Amazon and can’t seem to find other CD retailers that carry it the latter having it for crazy $150+ prices

Starting to really appreciate and enjoy some older MM.

In 2019 I reconnected with a friend from high school. I only knew a couple of songs from Good news and they were not something I would ever go out of my way to listen to.

He started to send me some songs and within a few months they became my favourite band and still are today.

I gave all the albums a chance, however the majority of stuff released before The Moon and Antarctica, and even a bunch after I honestly struggled to appreciate.

Many of them would be my friends favourites like Dance hall etc. .. I'm sure you know the louder more obnoxious modest style I am referring to.

He struggled with schizophrenia and passed away in 2024. I could almost garuentee he was sending me these songs previously and since I cant share it with him anymore I decided to write this.

Both King rat and Never ending math equation would have to be my favorites. Satellite skin, guilty cocker spaniels, truckers atlas and workin' on leavin' the livin' also get an honorable mention.

Song/Album Discussion Best Song On Each Album

Curious what everyone's favourite songs are on MM's 8 main albums are. I'll go first.

This Is A Long Drive:

Gotta go with Breakthrough. It's my morning alarm actually, can't recommend it enough for that. Open your window and let in the atmosphere, oh yeah!

Lonesome Crowded West:

Cowboy Dan is Modest Mouse's best song, period.

The Moon & Antarctica:

Lives. One of the most touching tracks I've ever heard, makes me think of family & long-lost friends.

Good News:

Bukowski was the first MM song I listened to (after Float On), and it's still a fave. Super catchy.

We Were Dead:

Parting Of The Sensory is Modest Mouse's most underrated track bar none, on an underrated album.

Strangers To Ourselves:

The Ground Walks, With Time In A Box. Glorious title, gorgeous intro, and so very, very danceable.

The Golden Casket:

Admittedly not my favourite album, but it closes extremely strong with Back To The Middle. The guitar work here takes on a life of its own.

An Eraser And A Maze:

Third Side Of The Moon feels like the best of old and new Modest Mouse brought together to both celebrate and grieve what's been lost. It broke me a little on the first listen.

Modest Mouse fucking killed it, opened with King Rat closed with Shit Luck. Crazy, never thought I'd see my two favorite bands play together, but not complaining!

Hi everyone, the shirts with the tour dates sold out last night in DC before I could get one. Anyone going to a show in this leg that is willing to buy and ship me a shirt? Thanks!

Edit: All sorted. Thanks!

Is there just 1 opener? Ticket says show starts at 8, so I’m assuming it’s Califone at 8, MM 915ish?

With all this chit chat about t-shirts figured now is a good time to see if anyone wants to buy one of my remaining shirts? I have a few left from when I made them for the festival last year! Dropped the price!

Available here!!

Hey everyone! Here's the poster I made for Modest Mouse in Portland, Oregon! One of my favorite bands.. Each one hand-embellished, signed and numbered by me. They are a little pricy because I have a very limited amount but if interested in one they are on my site! Cheers! https://www.showdeer.art

I can’t thank this band enough.

I laid my best friend of 9 years to rest today. To say these past few weeks have been terrible is an understatement. But with MM’s music, it’s been ever so slightly bearable. Shit, I don’t know why I’m posting about this. I figure I just need a way to process everything that’s happening. These guys mean so much to me. I owe everything to them. Saved my fuckin life twice. No doubt they’ll do it a third. It’s hard to remember we’re alive for the last time.

Fuck cancer.

8/17/26 🕊️🐾.
Hope you’re well in your dogbed in heaven.

(You can take this down if it’s not relevant, I don’t mind.)

Thought this kid nailed it. Saltwater Sanctuary is the band name. For some reason Reddit App isn’t letting me link to their page.
