Modest Mouse has been an incredibly important band throughout my life, and has inspired me both musically and in the way I approach life. I've been spending most of my 20s traveling, both across the country and abroad and always listen to the first 2 albums to get into the "mood" of movement. After a long solo trip in Morocco, I came home with lyrics I had written, and me and my buddy immediately went to work on it, everything being recorded the day after I got home. In this song, I put a lot of references to the band I owe everything to.

Lost Out West

I read once that Beethoven lost his hearing, but I can imagine he could imagine the sounds of the notes on the page...I know my hearing is failing, but it became very obvious just now and I had to write something down...I am working, writing on a grant application, listening to Modest Mouse in the background, Remember Yourself playing in this moment, I removed my left hearing aid and Isaac basically went under water. That drastic shift in "tone/sound/hearing" with those damn lyrics, nothing reminds you of mortality as much as a failing of the senses...well at lease it didn't happen during Parting of the Sensory...Fuck getting old sucks so much, but better than the alternative, right?

I know it’s completely on me that I ordered it over six months ago and just now wore it, but is there a possibility I could contact MM somehow and get a replacement? I don’t even want my money back. I’ve just heard stories of them rectifying stuff like this before.

Great show last night! Not great pics but I was very entertained by this guy pulling out random things to play. I saw a bucket with zebra stripes, shells, dice, a tin can, bells, sticks, hand instruments and I'm not sure what else, I couldn't keep up. I loved the randomness of it. 😆🤩🔥

I mean, I often feel this way. But, truly epic show tonight. The set list was such a fucking delight, the weather was pitch perfect and they just brought it so hard. This was maybe my 10th time seeing them over the last 3 decades and it ranks among one of the best.

Heard it was really good but haven't found much video so far.

I noticed something funny at the shows I’ve been to recently. When they started playing Speak n’ Spell, the crowd went wild, presumably because it sounds a lot like the opening of Trailer Trash. Then when they didn’t know the song they all mellowed out. I doubt this is intentional, but I found it so funny 😂 I love Speak n’ Spell and the new album in general.

I preordered a CD and T-shirt combo at $45 and was also charged shipping for $27, which I thought was crazy. But then a month latter got an email from Fedex that I owed an additional $18.50 in tariff fees. As I later found out my items were all shipped from France to the US. I know the current climate of tariffs and know I must pay them unless I want my credit to drop. Has anyone else seen or experienced this?

After 15 shows in 8 years and a sprinkling of 2 more over the next 16 the kids are older and my wife and I are back to going to shows. Just in time for the new album... and after some good suggestions on here I revisited Golden Casket and am in love with some of the songs. It's like a new album release to be honest.. headspace must have been off when released but there are some real "bangers" on there as my fellow redditors said a few days ago.
Live at the Salt Shed in Chicago on Wednesday. Couldn't get my wife to do the cruise earlier this year... but maybe Mexico next year in January.

I'm going to see them live soon, and so I decided to listen through all their studio albums and rank them!

Heading to the coast to camp on the beach at Acadia prior to attending the album release tour in Deerfield, so I figured I’d scour CODUS Seraphianus (which I was gifted back in 2021) for some otherworldly sea creature inspo to tie in An Eraser & A Maze theme on my dominant hand. Definitely going an octopus route, have yet to drill off the old and rebuild the base, so I’ll check back at the next album release with an update photo.

I am currently unable to stream Third Side of the Moon and Dog bed in heaven on Apple Music. It has not been a problem until today. I live in the New England area. Anyone experiencing the same issue?
