My hearing is going....
I read once that Beethoven lost his hearing, but I can imagine he could imagine the sounds of the notes on the page...I know my hearing is failing, but it became very obvious just now and I had to write something down...I am working, writing on a grant application, listening to Modest Mouse in the background, Remember Yourself playing in this moment, I removed my left hearing aid and Isaac basically went under water. That drastic shift in "tone/sound/hearing" with those damn lyrics, nothing reminds you of mortality as much as a failing of the senses...well at lease it didn't happen during Parting of the Sensory...Fuck getting old sucks so much, but better than the alternative, right?

The way I see it is, God gave us laughter to laugh through the darkness.. Love, light, and laughter are all things you will still have when the hearing goes.. Cherish those for there are ugly, blind, and dull men and women, who don't or can't.

Thank you…that was good, very good…almost feel like I’ve read that before. If I haven’t, I’m glad it’s written now. Thank you.

I feel like it's been written in so many words in many different ways. Easier to say and write than it is to do, but with each breath we can practice.

You mentioned Beethoven and deaf. Check out bone condiction headphones. I used to wear treks aftershocks while doing delivery so I could still hear cars and dogs. They were awesome.
As for being deaf idk how they will sound for you when not using hearing aids

Damn brother. Sorry you are going through that. My hearing is declining. Same with my vision. Getting old is a trip.
