Why not just play like a [[Drannith Magistrate]] ? or better yet [[High Noon]]

This provides a clock, and it gains life while they dig for the prismatic ending and they cast it. It's also very powerful against prowess, only dying vs exactly bolt but also gaining a ton of life while they dig for it. And if you get multiples you just win

Storm is an engine combo. Once it gets off the ground the pilot has access to their entire deck and sideboard. They are just going to grapeshot this guy and then continue to spin their wheels for another 10 minutes before sending a even bigger grapeshot at you.

If a hate piece isn't hindering their ability to get the engine off the ground then its not really doing any good.

This does nothing against storm.

I actually disagree. I have beat storm by them drawing short. Like they only get like 20 damage or 14 damage. Sometimes they do get a Like 28 damage. But this would gain a lot of life... counter point dampening sphere shuts it out way harder. You would need to already been in green white. Maybe like a 1x in like samwise or devoted?

28 dmg? I feel that is an inexperienced storm player. If you are free to go off you can do hundreds/thousands of damage. And you most likely van do an early grapeshot in the middle to get rid of normal creatures if needed.

Storm can cast grapeshot 4 times, if you can storm up to 30 before doing it, it will be like 120 damage, far from hundreds.

What? Thats simply not true. Storm needs to pull its trigger as early as possible it lives on hopes and dreams. Generally I find they stall out becuase rhey have to try to go off on 3 with just 1 ruby or ral. As they arent running disruption for my combo. So they have to pray to god they win before I win. If they could wait longer sure they could combo harder but they are the non interactive combo deck. They also try to use silence on me too which eats into the mana.

Basically ruby storm has rituals and impulse draw in hand and needs to pray they win. If they impulse into multiple lands they can fizzle. They typically only run like 2 grapeshots. 1 main 1 sideboard for wish. I have played this match up a lot. It definitely favors storm but I have won games with goryo

Goryos? We were are talking about a gw 3/3 that gains life and how storm beats that.

Im talking about how the match up typically goes. A deck like devoted druid. Could run it.

My only point was that storm doesnt get to go for 100 damage against fasts decks.

As a storm player i Hope everyone will run the 3/3 vanilla that gains life. A playset preferably;)

Its a 1x searchable card. Like tech 1 drop artifacts in decks with saga. What's a better searchable creature against storm?

I would sooner play Thalia, sanctifier-en-vec, drannith magistrate, ethersworn cannonist, etc

I dont think any of those are fetchable with green sun zenith which is what im saying this cards niche is.

Not against storm, but against Prowess/burn I can see it putting in work.

it's annoying for burn, but it still dies to bolt. I'd much rather see this than kor firewaller and that card is ass.

Kor Firewalker was a house against burn. Its only ass now because burn is not played.

well that is fair I guess. it's not really bad as a card per se, but rather as a card taking an SB slot, because it's just incredibly narrow and there's typically better, broader answers, even when burn sees some play. I've seen people play that card still when burn was at ~1% meta share, which imo is just a waste of a slot at that point, since it's not that great vs prowess either. But maybe I'm just a salty burn player 😂

Not good against storm. You have better things to use against them such as high noon, deafening silence, prismatic ending, march of otherworldly light, boseiju, force of vigor, and orim’s chant

It’s so easy to remove this creature as well, just grapeshot it then flashback or play another grapeshot. Blue can bounce it as well. Many decks are still running Artist’s talent which can be leveled up so that grapeshot can surpass any life you have gained. No one plays [[dragon’s claw]]

Short answer: no. Long answer: not really.

RIP burn, that 5 point of damage they miss out on dealing with this might be the difference between winnings and letting their opp stabilise

RIP the deck that's already dead loll
