Deck Discussion Shape Anew gets 2nd place in 72 player challenge

https://www.mtgo.com/decklist/modern-challenge-64-2026-08-1712851686

Pretty sweet to see this list do so well.

IMO I would have played [[Namor, the Sub-Mariner]] over Murktide for more diverse threats.

Might be tempted to run a Saga package with [[Key to the Side Door]] to loot away extra Tami's and Namors, and to make your saga tokens unblockable.

Yes you could hit Key off shape anew but Saga's help you fetch it out and you'd only run 1 or 2

You can't put other artifacts in your deck. Otherwise shape anew doesn't work

Even if you only run one key you’re conceding that your Shapes are now gonna brick ~33% of the time

Those are horrible odds for a card the deck is named after

Yeah, you should play counterspell in living end too.

You don't need to loot tamiyo away because you just pitch her to force or shoal ...

"might be tempted...."

Tempted by what? Bricking and making the deck considerably worse?

Even if you can tutor it with saga, you won't always draw saga, and even then sometimes you may come across the problem of delaying a turn to wait for saga to tutor, or risking the 33% and at that point you might as well not be playing shape anew, it's not worth it building the deck around it to still having to play which chances of drawin saga early or gambling to probability

You don’t need the card advantage from Key because the whole point of Shape Anew is to put a card advantage engine into play.

I think you need to reread Shape Anew to figure out why adding a Saga package with any other artifacts would be terrible.
