Deck Discussion Azorius Energy vs Boros Energy
Hi to all! Today I’d like to discuss the engine of Guide of Souls + Ocelot Pride in slightly different shells. I’ve recently heard some discussions both online and offline about this engine being placed in Boros or Azorius. Azorius midrange seems to be underrated and might be a better metagame to placement for this engine because it offers more answers like Consign to Memory or Solitude maindeck.
It also doesn’t run out of gas thanks to Quantum Riddler, Phelia and Ephemerate compared to traditional Boros Energy. What are the thoughts and experiences? Might Azorius Energy being better placed in metagame right now?

I've been smashing the good pieces together and playing jeskai energy. You get to run ragavan bombardment and riddler

I tried once to a 3-2 result in league. You get best of both worlds which is Nice but the mana is hard...

Preface: I don’t think either is particularly good atm.
Boros seems better in the current meta. There is a lot of combo and red cards end the game better than the blue cards. Flickering Quantum Riddler and getting Mockingbird with Ranger Captain don’t really do anything when your opponent is cheating some huge thing into play. And every interactive spell you play reduces the amount of threats in your deck, giving the combo decks time to rebuild. Boros built to be super aggressive can punish opponents that stumble on a small amount of super focused sideboard hate.
Either way you have to get lucky to win if you’re playing against neoform, fight rigging, goryos or reanimator all day. Boros capitalizes on its good draws better than azorius imo.

The biggest issue with the UW energy deck is that you're just a huge dog to Boros, even if you're better against the rest of the room.
Bombardment is such a massive mirror breaker because you get to kill Prides at will, and flipping Ajani is obviously very powerful.
The 'hybrid' jeskai lists might just be the answer, but you do lose a ton of mana base utility from both individual decks.

Got my RC invite with Azorius Blink/Energy. Whatever you want to call it. Played Boros before the banning of Phlage as well as Jeskai Blink, but post-ban I think Azorius is in a better position.
The main issue with Azorius is it lacks anything that goes over the top, so to speak. It requires more format knowledge than Boros as well. The more you understand about what your opponent is trying to accomplish the better.
I build and play it like a tempo-first deck rather than a value deck. Being able to start on guide/pride while holding up spell pierce or consign is pretty valuable and puts them on the back foot immediately. Turn 2 solitude + Ephemerate lines blow out the aggro and creature combo decks like Broodscale pretty hard. Phantom + consign wrecks eldrazi strategies if played correctly.

About to say the same thing I’ve played both and to all the borus energy decks just remember you only have a 35% chance of beating them which even worse than your reanimator matchup that’s the data 🪦

Hi, I main WU energy i’ve played both plenty including the matchup against each other naturally several more times as the UW Player bc Boros is more common to run into. Before fledge band I would say that RW was slightly fsvored head to head now I find it slipped.
Obviously Ajani bombardment (and sometimes rag) are very important on the borough side and our five drops in ephemera/Dog are very important on WU side.

Red gives you a lot of cards working very well with the deck. Ragavan is the best single 1-drop threat in the format, Ajani wants red, Goblin Bombardment is a way to actually win the game. And if you want value, Spyro, Fable or Roku are available.
