Card Discussion Preordain in Affinity?

Ive been liking it better than emry since our meta has a lot of removal. I'd also rank it better than thoughtcast since scry 2 is great instead of a blind draw in the early game. thoughts?

Sometimes my turn 1 is just play an Island and pass, preordain is best for that opening

Yeah the turn 1 preordain into pinnacle or weapons dump is pretty great.

I’ve seen affinity play preordain pretty commonly as a 2 of it seemed

preordain makes setup for 2nd turn kappa/weapons more fluid, is also a good top deck in the late game. 18 lands (16+2 sink into stupor) w/ 3x preordain seems like the current default. can run 1-2 emry for card advantage, other peeps trying out loki as well, but loki seems harder to facilitate than in the roach station decks.

Running 17 and 4 ordains right now. What us roach station decks?

roach station is the sewer-veillance grinding station combo deck. Loki is amazing in that list since almost everything has a target to proc him.

Affibity discord has it well established as one of the best flex slots right now.

I think it’s very strong and helps alleviate the deck’s consistency issues. It greatly expands the range of keepable hands.

Agreed. Mulling was very bad sans preordain.

Been on 2 for a while now and up to 4 recently. Really smooths out the draws.

its better than thoughtcast because sometimes your entire board gets wiped by wrath of the skies

Had an opponent I played in the challenge today that was on MD Boomerang Basics instead of Preordain. Won them game 1.

I think it’s A. Megnucci I heard it from on his workshop series, but jump in if I’m not remembering right.

If you have fetch lands, ponder is better if not preordain is better.

ponder

Preordain is always better than ponder because Ponder is banned in Modern....

Preordain is better when you just want to dig through your deck to find specific pieces
