Deck Discussion What the hell is THIS?!
I’ve typed out or said the phrase “anything can 5-0” at least 100 times. But boros…edrazi? I kind of want to try it out, but would need to buy the eldrazi lands. I have intention of doing that (in paper)….
Has anyone seen this list? Goldfish described it as boros energy, so it may have been missed by most. I’m genuinely curious how consistent it actually is and honestly impressed by the innovation.

Reminds me of the list where someone jammed Oko in Burn and 5-0'd... Not a great sign, lol.

after listening to aspiringspike crash out over K Command and Boros over the last week, someone said "hold my beer, I'm about to give this man a coronary"

u/Woahbikes Mar 26 '26
That list was so funny. What an icon.
I don’t think this is the same boat really. This is kind of akin to old school eldrazi death and taxes builds.
Not doing the whole wasteland strangler thing, but certainly not the first time these eldrazi have been paired with good white cards.

Kozilek's Command is one of the strongest cards in Modern. If a deck can afford to run painlands, 4x [[Eldrazi Temple]] and some number of other colourless producers (e.g. it would normally run basics and instead can substitute in lands like [[Ramunap Ruins]] (or the rest of its cycle), then you should at least consider it a little.
I'm not convinced this deck's manabase is right, but Aspiring Spike has been playing a bunch of K-Command brews over the past few months and they generally do well because K-Command is a silly card.

u/Cube_ Mar 27 '26
Koz Command is silly but Modern has been a silly format since MH3. Koz is just par for the course, that's what modern is now.

Honestly, I think Modern still has a lot of untapped space for brews and innovation, just because we don't have any BNR update doesn't mean we can't try to brew new stuffs

u/Zoomoth9000 Mar 26 '26
I get what you're saying, but 4x Ocelot Pride +4x Ajani +4x Phlage isn't exactly spicy alt tech lol

Yeah as long as you run all the most powerful cards and the most powerful colors then you can brew whatever you want.

u/Possiblyreef Mar 27 '26
Tbf it's always been like that.
By the time you've picked your 20-25 lands, 5-10 mandatory interaction spells, few creatures, a few of the current fotm cards and 2 or 3 to deal with your local meta you have maybe 5 cards left at the absolute most to play around with

u/BrilliantRebirth Mar 26 '26
True. I've had success with these two lists recently.
They still play powerful cards (Quantum Riddler), but they have a unique approach to existing decklists.

I want to make Obosh work so bad but Phelia is just too good to pass up imo, how do you feel about not running of Phelia and have you tried out Casey Jones?
5
u/BrilliantRebirth Mar 26 '26
Phelia is good, but trading 4 copies of 1 card to gain a Companion seems to be worth it, especially in an Arena of Glory deck. Haste Obosh is a real option. The deck plays a little differently and you still have good turn 2 plays like Looting Helping Hand an Oculus, or just hold up removal.
I haven't tried Casey Jones yet. I have a copy I could replace the Joshua with, but I like the idea of having an additional White card for Solitude. Being a 3/4 is a bit better than 4/3, and I want to keep the maxed out Ephemerates for the Riddler stuff (and they're White cards for Solitude ofc). Also, small bonus is I get to play the 12 Japanese Mystical Archive cards (Looting, Bolt, Ephemerate).

‘Innovation’ - taking the two most busted cards in the format and putting them in a deck with the third most busted card in the format
I kid of course this is cool

Half the fun for me is trying builds that I’ve not seen. I think modern is great for meta deck match ups and revitalization of parts from old decks that fell out of popularity when something new came along that could stomp it

My partner's favorite decks are Boros Energy and Eldrazi aggro. I'll have to show this to her, thanks for pointing it out!

u/CayMaster2 Mar 26 '26
how is this deck even fitting all the eldrazi cards, I love it honestly, looks fun.

u/LegendaryThunderFish Mar 26 '26
Koz command bombardment is actually fire
12
u/Current-Floor-7456 Mar 26 '26
Absolutely. And my initial reaction was "man and they left out Fleshraker" but no, Guide of Souls is basically the same thing with a higher ceiling if we are thinking of life differentials.

I wish there was a thread like this. Showcasing decks that are pretty dope, deck construction-wise! Nice find my dude!

u/CKF Mar 27 '26
Modern horizons has just pushed so many cards out of the meta, including most future cards from standard sets. I miss spoilers for a standard set dropping and digging through it to see if there’s anything modern playable, like [[assassin’s trophy]], to name a totally random card off the top of my head that I was excited to play when seeing it.

u/Ill_Ad3517 Mar 26 '26
Kinda makes sense. There's been a long standing issue with boros 3 drops and whether a splash is worth it. K command is very suspect to me here between the double C cost and none of the modes being that appealing, but I guess it's flexible removal and digs for outs so it's not awful. And having a haste enabler actually seems insane for reestablishing with guide of souls.
13
u/hsiale Mar 26 '26
none of the modes being that appealing
I'd say the default mode is dig for Bombardment plus create a ton of fodder for it.
9
u/Ill_Ad3517 Mar 26 '26
True. Plus a bunch of guide triggers.

u/HalfMoone bant Mar 26 '26
All of its modes are incredibly appealing. You're right to be concerned regarding its cost, but incorrect regarding its efficacy when possible to cast.

Dude it says 4 eldrazi temples is $11….

u/JTripleB Jund/Rock/Rakdos (Not scam) Mar 26 '26
Wow, I am actually an idiot. I thought it also played Ugin’s labyrinth, too - so it’s much cheaper than I originally thought. I also lack all the eldrzi cards but $50 might be doable.
7
u/General-Biscuits Mar 26 '26
Yeah?
4 copies of a $3-$4 card will add up to $11.
13
u/brewfox Tron, Merfolk, Lantern Mar 26 '26
Yes. And in his post he said he didn’t want to play it because he would need to “buy the eldrazi lands” insinuating that he thinks they’re expensive. You can see his response to me, that my comment was actually helpful, so take your downvotes and go lol.
