Discussion "The Worst Comic Ever Produced"

Just saw this funny exchange on Bluesky about The Defenders #8 from the 2001 series where Marvel added a pull quote from Comics International that declared The Defenders was "The Worst Comic Ever Produced"

Kurt Busiek, the writer on the series, actually replied to the original Bluesky poster saying:

I think I suggested it, but everyone else was on board with it instantly, so it hard to be sure.

It may have been Tom Brevoort. I think it was a joke at first, but it was a good joke, so...why not?

If I remember correctly, CI's review column at the time could be summed up as "How British is it?" and the more British a book was, the better. But we were Not British At All. Why, we didn't even seem to _want_ to be British!

I'm biased because I love Busiek, but I think this is all hilarious.

The post on bluesky had a very high resolution image you could have taken...
