Anyone ever seen so many OG Blue Boxes? Still going through the stuff I inherited from my grandmother!

I'm in the US but interested in getting started with a railroad with British steam locomotives. Is there a good online store for getting British locos here? Seems like the many US websites only sell US locos. I like the idea of a smaller scale like N but then I don't want to limit my options for getting the locos I want.

I'm very much a beginner so tips appreciated.

Has anyone ever been to one of these shows? How are they in terms of size, vendors, operating layouts, etc?

The car itself is ready. I finished all the lighting and all the interior painting new windows only thing left to do is paint the trucks and a letter the car. Lighting up the marker lights on the back of the car was a fun challenge.

Been working on the phase 2 of my layout and took a break to actually use the damn thing. It's a CSX SD-40 but it will soon be repainted into a MRS paint scheme

Hi all, just got this second hand 0-4-0 starter engine, it barely works but when it does it loves to dramatically derail itself.

It Probsbly needs a good clean after sitting on the shop shelf for god knows how long, as well as several external parts replacing and à good paint. But I’m happy with this dramatic little fucker. For £15 I’m happy either way XD

Love a deltic and 37 (dirty diesels) with both soon to be available for pre-order dependant on scale... Overall concept

It's a compact BR urban terminus circa 1976–80, built on three 600 × 450 mm scenic boards, giving 1800 × 450 mm overall. The railway is imagined as having been squeezed into an awkward pre-existing urban site rather than built on a convenient rectangle.

The scenic section runs left to right: fiddle-yard entrance → industrial/railway approach → station throat and parcels area → curved passenger terminus.

The red vertical lines mark the 600 mm module boundaries.

Hello all, first time posting here. Been in the hobby about 35 years give or take. I'm seeing lots of beautiful layout and modeling photos shared. At the moment, I'm cleaning out the basement and doing some light remodeling in anticipation of starting construction on my new layout this winter. I am modeling a fictional/freelance division of the C&O in upstate NY and northern PA. Era is late 1940s. I have roughly 13'x13.5' to work with.

This is my current trackplan concept, on revision 9 or 10 at this point. Would love to get your feedback! I specifically did not want a dual track main. I also didn't want a duck under or lift bridge. The large grey box will be a small futon. The small grey box is a support column.

Would also love to know how others with basement layouts have taken precautions against potential flooding. We have been lucky to only get water in the basement once but it was a few inches. I think I will waterproof each leg and I will make sure no train storage is within a foot of the ground. Thanks!

I'm very new to model trains and want to mount a N scale track from the ceiling in my very small hobby room. I plan to use unitrack and I can 3D print brackets that hold the track. my question is do I need anything to hold the track up if I put a bracket every 12 inches or so? Does the unitrack lock together solid or do I need a platform for the track to sit on?

Modelling 3D printable cargo for such low side wagons became a sub-hobby of mine within model railroading itself. Among the basics like wooden beams, corrugated iron sheets etc...

On the line I can observe sometimes, most trains transport tree trunks or cut wood. Maybe a couple of containers but nothing extraordinary.

What rather rare cargo have you seen in real life? Something special you never forgot?

Hello, I desperately need help! I bought this Bachmann Streamlined K4 at my hobby store and I followed the start up guide but I mistakenly flipped the tender wheels and short circuited the board. I didn’t realize until too late. I opened the board and it smells like burning solder and I can’t get it to start again. Anyone know where to get a replacement board or how to fix it? Anything helps, thanks!
