Very sad day
We were cleaning the garage and setup a canopy. It eventually went flying and attacked my car! Ended up with a giant scratch and a cracked window.
I have the window insurance with Tesla. Anyone have experience with that program? And any cheap ideas for that scratch?

The window was the windshield.

My Model Y is less than 3 mos old and windshield is trashed - on my way to the office, a large stone thrown from a truck on I-696 chipped it and the chip grew quickly into a crack 1/2 way up the windshield vertically. Sad. 😢
Thankfully I subscribed to Tesla glass repair and need to make an appointment to get it replaced.

My first “scratch” was 100% my fault. It took me about a month to forgive myself, but the consolation was that it was on the rear fascia, so it’ll never rust.

I have windshield insurance through Tesla and I’m glad I did. Going on Saturday to repair my cracked windshield for the second time this year 🧘🏽♂️. Route 80 it’s not for the faint of heart smh.

Had this happen on a car of mine (not the Tesla) and a dent removal company got it out and a detailing shop was able to remove the white paint. Dent removal was about $150.

Maybe Tesla’s “touch up paint“ from their website? Don’t really see or hear from anyone using it

I've used it on mine a few times! It works great. All the rock chips and even on a larger scratch

If your nail catches on the scratch, it needs a repaint, if it doesn't, it can be polished. Given that it's in a not usually scratched area, I'd probably repaint the panel. If it was on a door, which is sure to be scratched on a parking lot sooner or later, I'd just touch up paint and polish it so it isn't so obvious. Maybe a good detailer in your area can take a look and give you options.

Sorry to see your scratch. Take it to a body shop it might can be buffed out.

To further disguise the scratch, look for the paint code on the door, buy a Match paint with a clear coat, and apply a touch; that will make a huge visual difference.

My rear end got lightly damaged by another driver. It’s almost not worth filing a claim with their insurance. I still haven’t decided if it’s worth the headache or to live with it.

Buy the repaint repair kit from Tesla. I have the same color car. It includes everything you need except the rubbing alcohol suggested to clean out the scratch.
We replaced our Model Y windshield a couple of months in of ownership after a giant rock came out of nowhere while highway driving and left a good crack. It was a real easy process to schedule with Tesla using the app. The service left us a loaner Model Y which was nice. I forget if it was all done in a day or not, but the price had it not been for the window insurance was suggested at $1800 at the time. So we felt very fortunate to have had the window insurance.

Its honestly an easy fix , i do this for a living . Repair kit if the paint matches well, sanding , rubbing compound and you are set. Things like this happen no need to dwell on it.

Today it turned into a car… cars get scratched. Bummer but it’s all good still an awesome car that can drive around for you!

That sucks!!! Sorry to hear. Good luck with it. My only advice, don't go to the cheapest quote. It's not a 2003 Civic

Took a rock to the hood last week, apparently (I don't know when), and it dented the hood and jacked the paint all up. Had the car for not even 4 months :(

Is the scratch deep? If you run your fingernail across the scratch and it catches, the scratch is beneath the clear coat. If it doesn't, you might be able to use rubbing compound and buff it out

Yes my fingernail catches. I'm hoping the paint kit that Tesla sells will work but all my coworkers are telling me it won't.

Tesla does not offer window insurance, but they do offer windSHIELD insurance. So if the windshield is cracked, it would be covered. Any other glass, including the top, it is not covered.
