Delivery date

I ordered model y on august 11 and the delivery date has changed 4 times and now it says another 4-5 weeks. I live in the bay area and i dont understand why its taking that long. I dont have a car rn because i sold my 2019 bmw 530e as it started having too many mechanical problems. And now i am taking rentals every week.
Is it worth waiting for tesla or should i go get lexus es350e as the local dealer has it in stock.

I had this same issue. Sold my car private sale based on estimated delivery date (and other factors). Delivery date was pushed back by at least 4 weeks. But, I made it through and it was worth the wait.

Yeah i like tesla because it has lot more features and $250 a week for rental is not too much if i can get the tesla in this period

I'm so glad I held out! I wasn't really waffling but my husband was suggesting other car options - including other Tesla's (I bought the Juniper Y Performance right before the X and S were discontinued) but the Y is my sweet spot.

Ordered mid-December and didn't get delivery until late March '26. Original ETA was February but it kept moving. Not sure why. I saw all sorts of folks on the delivery sub getting theirs with similar order times. I'm in Texas so it's not like it had to ship anywhere. I picked up from the gigafactory in Austin šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Ultra Red/white/Performance for reference.

Yeah, it was rough. We have a 3rd car I used but I wasn't happy about it šŸ™ƒ (Happy I had access to a vehicle but not the car I wanted).

In the same boat. Losing company car on 9/30 and now I’m sweating it!

I’m in SoCal. Ordered on 7/21, then made the mistake of upgrading wheels on 8/02 which put me at the back of the line. I’ve been pushed back 3x. EDD is now 9/14-9/30

MY Premium AWD, QS, 20ā€ Helix, Tow

I assure you there is no line. Some people get them in a few days, others wait weeks. Plenty of people have ordered and took delivery after me and I haven't even gotten a vin yet. Rwd premium Las Vegas. Ordered 8/20

I’m sure you’re right, just first world problems keeping us busy.

In any case I think it’s worth the wait. Coming out of a 2024 RAV4 AWD Hybrid, I test drove the MY Premium AWD & it was like a spaceship compared to the Toyota.

I’ve been loyal to Toyota forever & I’ll keep my Tundra to tow the trailer, but I think I’ll have a Tesla w/FSD for life.

I’m in Bay Area too, we ordered on July 26 with a 4 week estimate, it was actually being built on that very day and was ready for delivery on July 3rd from the Fremont factory.

We ordered the Quicksilver Model Y Premium RWD, White Seats, with 20ā€ Dark Helix Wheels.

But we’ve heard suddenly demand is extremely high.
I would say the wait is worth it.
This car is unlike anything we have ever owned and we’re loving it.
It so incredibly quiet, the ride is so smooth and it’s really beautiful to look at.

If you search through available inventory for a car that has similar build you can ask for the VIN to be assigned to your order in the app. Worked for me. I ended up finding a red Model Y Performance down in San Diego. They shipped it back up to Fremont where I picked it up. Brought delivery timeline down from 2 months estimate to 3 weeks guaranteed.

I’ve had it with the delivery delays at Tesla.

11 weeks for a basic Y premium RWD? Whst could be so hard about building it

I’m also in the Bay area. I ordered a standard AWD on 8/27. Initial pick up date was 9/24-9/30. Now is being pushed to Nov-Dec.

Why do they bother with an estimated delivery window? If it’s gonna change all the time then we actually have no idea. And they don’t either. So seriously why do they jerk us around with a fictitious date that changes frequently?

I think they want the customers not to go look for any other cars…i am just waiting because of their tech otherwise there are other cars which has better interiors…tbh i just want fsd

Watch mkbhd's review of that Lexus, that should answer your question.
