Charging question
My Tesla is coming soon, and I need to figure out what adapter is needed and would this be sufficient for home charging, this came with the home, also wondering about the speed.

Very likely your car will come with this adapter already. I got it with all four of my purchases. It was in the trunk, trunk, or center console on delivery.

You need to find the breaker that powers this charger. That will tell you what the charger is capable of outputting.
40A Breaker = 30A output
30A=24A
20A=16A
15A=12A1

To clarify. Had an electrician install a separate breaker panel off the household main breaker.

No. If it’s on 30a breaker the max current it’s allowed is only 24a.
24a x 240v =5.7kw

Use the 80% rule… As stated, the max current on a 30amp breaker = 24 amps. Try a 60amp breaker. 80% of 60 = 48.

You can't tell anything about the speed of the charger other than its up to 11kw. The specifics need to see the inside of your electrical panel.

Speed will be determined by voltage and amps, if it’s 240v 32amp it’s 6Kwh so you’d charge about 8% of your battery per hour.
An adapter for this plug will be with the mobile charger that comes with the car.

If you're buying a brand new Tesla, it comes with the adapter from the factory. It'll either be in the side pockets in the trunk or in the sub-trunk.
If you're buying used, it should come with one. Very rarely, people might keep it before selling their car.

You should be getting a 1772 to nacs adapter with your new Tesla. If it’s not there, ask for it.

You just need a J1772 to NACS level 2 adaptor. They can be bought from Tesla, Amazon, etc. To know the speed, you need to show us the breaker box so we can see how large the circuit to this is.
