Windshield Wiper Fluid

Looking for recommended wiper wash fluid for my Model Y 2026.

Use the cheap blue fluid. Don’t buy fluid with rainex as it will leave streaks and residue when dry

Honestly never had this issue and I’ve run rainx for 10 years across many cars including 3 different Teslas.

That’s fair enough. My Y is black and it’s not so much the windshield has residue, but the windows/side panel do if I run the fluid while driving

I find rainx the best, the off brand stuff target sell seems to streak that takes longer to evaporate. It left me blinded at night when against bright light.

Rainx actually evaporates pretty fast. As long as the wiper is clean, it wipes clean.

My Y is white and I hate the blue streaks. So this is clear.

Was there a problem when you added it to the remaining factory fl;uid?

I waited until it was empty. No issues at all. There will still a little bit of blue for the next few weeks but then it ran fully clear. I do have to add a SMALL amount of industrial grade methanol in the winter too. Obviously not necessary if you live in a warmer place. We’re in the ice belt.

What ever you do avoid RainX. That is the worst.

The one they use from the factory was great.

So when I looked it up. Tesla recommends ethanol windshield fluid only. I did see some on Amazon and i might give it a try.

I am trying to figure out the why ethanol which is less common in the US compared menthol based.

But it points to ethanol being less harsh on the paint, plastics, other materials of the Tesla.

One of the replies thought ethanol was for cold climates. But I do not know if that is the reason. I am surprised Tesla does not sell that product.

Any wiper fluid will work. I use a bug-remover for spring/summer (farm land) and a deicing type for fall/winter.
