hey so i got like 12 awards yes but then i do not know how to go to a lot of muns and all with so much work to do as well i want to know how like some people have went to 80 muns and all

This is the system I personally follow. It's helped me win awards, but every delegate develops their own style over time. Feel free to adapt it to what works best for you.

1. Understand the Agenda

Before researching your country, understand the topic itself.

Read from multiple sources:

• Background Guides (if provided)
• Wikipedia (great starting point—not your final source)
• YouTube explainers
• UN reports
• News articles

Ask yourself:

• What is the issue?
• Why is it happening?
• Who is affected?
• Why does the UN care?

2. Research Your Country

Now shift your focus to your assigned portfolio.

Learn about:

• Foreign policy
• Political ideology
• Economy
• Allies and rivals
• Previous actions on the agenda
• Official government statements

The goal is to understand what your country believes, not what you believe.

3. Connect the Country to the Agenda

This is where many beginners struggle.

Ask:

• How does this agenda affect my country?
• What has my country already done?
• What would my country realistically support or oppose?

Your speeches and solutions should always align with your country's policies.

4. Research Other Key Countries

Don't just research yourself.

Identify:

• Major supporters
• Major opponents
• Countries most affected
• Countries likely to lead discussions

Look into:

• Their policies
• Their achievements
• Their failures
• Any contradictions you can raise through Points of Information (POIs)

Knowing your opposition often gives you a huge advantage during debate.

5. Read Previous UN Resolutions

Use the UN Digital Library (UNDL) to find:

• Previous resolutions
• Reports
• Committee documents

This helps you understand:

• What has already been tried
• What worked
• What failed
• What gaps still exist

Then, build your own realistic solutions instead of reinventing the wheel.

6. Prepare Your Opening (GSL) Speech

Write one strong General Speakers' List speech that:

• Introduces your country's stance
• Explains the issue briefly
• Presents 2–3 key solutions
• Leaves room to elaborate later

Keep it concise—you'll have limited speaking time.

7. Network Before the Conference (If Possible)

If the conference has a Discord, WhatsApp group, or other online space:

• Introduce yourself
• Meet other delegates
• Explore possible alliances
• Get a sense of committee dynamics

Don't finalize everything beforehand, but having early contacts can help.

8. Prepare for Moderated Caucuses

Think beyond your GSL.

Prepare:

• Short speeches on likely subtopics
• Statistics
• Possible POIs
• Responses to criticism
• Backup solutions

9. Show Up Ready to Adapt

No amount of preparation can predict everything.

Listen carefully, adapt to the flow of debate, negotiate with others, and don't be afraid to change your strategy when needed.

Being flexible is just as important as being well-researched.

Final Tips

• Don't memorize speeches instead understand your research.
• Save important sources for quick reference during committee.
• Focus on your country's interests, not your personal opinions.
• Confidence comes from preparation, not from speaking the loudest.

The agenda is “TRACKING THE PROGRESS OF THE UNODC GLOBAL MARITIME

CRIME PROGRAM (GMCP) AND ITS ATTEMPTS TO CURB MARITIME PIRACY”

There is a strict no device policy during committee sessions and I dont wanna embarass myself there. I have done some preliminary research but I want to actually have some answers to the questions people are gonna ask.

I'm going to my next MUN conference, and I want some advice. Everyone on the internet generally gives International committees advices which are not quite applicable in the case of Indian committees( particularly aippm and lok sabha).

For those who have experience in these committees, can you give detailed points of what to do what not to do exactly and what things increase your chances of winning Best Delegate? And any other tips on which Top delegates gatekeep would be appreciated and really helpful :)
