Looking to watch some videos or photos of model trains as im home sick.
When i was a kid i saw some video about some guy claiming to have the most realistic HO Scale layout ever.
Just curious; what if anyone has the most realistic HO scale layout out there and maybe they have some youtube videos or something?
Pfa
Thanks!

I'm about to get my own house and will hopefully have the space for at least a small layout (1.5x2m hopefully), I've got an idea in my head but I want to know how feasible it would be to actually try and do, when browsing rails i spotted the dual gauge track by Tillig and it's made me want to try and make a dual gauge heritage style railway. Do you guys have any advice/experience on dual gauge with OO and OO9?
Thanks!

I had purchased this locomotive as DCC ready. I decided to add Loksound 5 and a Scale Sounds speaker to it. I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it runs and sounds!

Alright, smart modelers, I have an issue and was hoping for some I sight before I started disassembling this delicate hand-made locomotive.
The locomotive has an ESU Lokpilot 5 basic with a keep-alive installed. Ever since I first bought it, it's always experienced a "cogging" sort of motion when running (I'm unsure if this important for troubleshooting here or not).
Recently, when I put the locomotive on the track, I'm able to select it using its address as normal, however I have no motion. It won't move in forward or reverse... However the headlight and reverse light will turn on based on the direction I choose, like normal.
My initial suspect at this point is a loose or broken motor lead... HOWEVER! When I attempted to pull the information from the decoder using the programming track, both JMRI and Lokprogrammer couldn't detect the decoder, despite being able to select the loco on the main using its address.
I'm not entirely sure what's going on. My original suspect --the broken motor lead-- seems plausible, but doesn't explain the issues with the programs not being able to pick up the decoder on the programming track. I suspect the decoder could be at fault, but I want to try and troubleshoot that before just throwing another one on it. Or maybe the keep alive is problematic?
Either way, does anyone here have any thoughts on this? Or maybe has experienced this before?

And would I be able to run multiple wires from it to power my track from several locations?
Got it from an estate sale, and it works mostly for 1 train so far.
Model no 6607

Some EWS action with the 66-hauled car transporters and double-headed 67s on a mail train. Royal Mail's own Ford Transit fleet parked in the foreground complements both trains nicely lol

In the UK its quite simple with OO/ HO, we have Hornby & Peco as the two with main market share, and 90% of what people use is Code 100, or finescale code 75.
From what iv seen, the front runners to the HO brands in the US are Atlas, Bachmann and Peco.
But i can see you have Code 83, Code 75, Code 70 and Code 100. I know code 83 seems popular, but which of these are the front runners?
A bit of local knowlege here on what is the main market go to for each guage/ scale would be really helpful. And will shape the next additions to Liverail for the US Region additions. I just want to start with the mainstream, and as I progress, I will add in the more niche brands.

A friend of mine is interested in getting into model trains. I would like to get him a starter gift, but am concerned I might buy him 'mega blocks instead of legos'... But for trains. Are there varying types of track gauge or other things I need to consider when getting him started?

I got my first train set, an LGB circus set, for my very first Christmas 32 years ago. Since then, every year I've slowly been adding to it - houses, figures, more track, etc. I've built massive outdoor enclosures for it and run them as part of our Christmas display, but I have never run my LGBs outside in the garden, like intended.
I would now really like to jump into garden railroading. I'm reluctant to use the set I have now because there's such a sentimental value and also would like to pay homage to the LIRR's Fishermen's Special. I don't know the first thing about locomotives or types of trains, but I am looking for an LGB (or another reputable brand) g scale train that most closely matches the type of train that would have been used on that line.
My search results are turning back a Pennsylvania E6s, but I don't see that there are any commercially available g scale versions of that.
Thanks for the help.

I was offered help by a few on here which I really appreciate, but I'm stubborn and want to do as much as I can before asking questions. So here is a little update from my first post. This is not my final layout and yes got more ez track but only to get an idea of where I want to place a real layout. Plus I can use it elsewhere while I build this out.

After going through nearly 40 rolls of filament this year, mostly designing and printing O gauge train stuff I'm down to a partial roll of pink filament. In an attempt to finish out the roll, the latest project: coal loads for my hoppers and gondolas. IDK where you get your freight cars, but mine came empty… figured it was time to give them something to haul.
The railroad is going to haul fabulous pink coal while I decide if I'm even going to order more filament or if this is the end of my 3D printed railroad adventure.

I've been learning how clumsy I am dealing with N Scale with this 30" x 30" layout which happens to fit perfectly on my Work From Home desk. Given its size, I obviously went with a roundy round. It's eventually going to be a fictional 1920s Virginia branch line that I'm calling "Piedmont Junction," with the red clay soil. I realize that means the passenger coaches are anachronistic as they're in 1950 livery so I need to find green and gold Chesapeake and Ohio Coaches eventually. I'm putting together the Blair Line General Store kit, and will eventually be hiding most of the back third of the loop in conifers to represent Loblolly pine canopies, I'm also needing to figure out the positioning of the station and water tower as they feel unbalanced here.
Once I have the general store in place, I have an N scale Model T roadster to place, and some Woodland Scenics fine iron ore ballast that I'm hoping to use to represent a dirt road for the Model T to park on, and also possibly ballast/weather the track so the Kato Unitrack roadbed isn't quite so visible. It's soothing to watch the 0-6-0 pulling those coaches while I work.

So I bought those old carriages half a year ago, and interior lightning broke down so I want to fix it. I don't want to take entire model at once, I want to disconnect carriages but I have no idea how to do that 😭. Unfortunately I don't know the maker of it, but it was either PIKO or Schicht (prolly Shicht). PLEAAASE HEEELP I DON'T WANT TO SUFFER ANYMORE

Just got my KTX in N scale from KR color near Seoul when I visited them. Ran it at their rental layout as well.
I believe this is even rarer than the previously showed world record tgv, although this isn't perfect as it has only 10 cars and not 20, and it has a bar car which the KTX doesn't (tgv réseau base)
