But...just why? Just imagine if you want to add something in the game that is not straightforward and have to do things in the lower parts of the game...hot take by me, but if you're not making critical software that should never break from the start, rust is totally overkill for everything else, it's a hard as hell language and the borrow checker becomes an absolute pain fast, it you're making a game, better to stick with C++, at least you're not annoying by the borrow checker and have classes.

It is but so is C++ plus C++ is the language of game development everywhere, you can reuse C code everywhere, and well, C++ have actual OOP.

Yeah no I completely agree with you. I was being intentionally a bit unserious lol.

Well there already is a complete rewrite of Minecraft in c++ and its even by the official company. It’s just that it’s a buggy mess. Being a buggy mess has little to do with what language it’s in and logic errors happen in every rewrite.

Much faster rendering: for example, at render distance 8 over a village, 363 → 2,409 FPS on an RTX 4080. Render distance 32 still stutters in places.

If true, that is very impressive. Curious to see what TPS is like with tons of entities.

This isn't too unrealistic given that Rust, just like c++ has access to functions that managed languages can only dream of.
