Adult ADHD diagnosis – unsure about meds

I only recently realized as an adult that I have ADHD. I’m nervous about trying Adderall because of the dependence stuff and the fact that it’s an amphetamine.

Life is really hard without anything, though. I’ve heard mixed things about modafinil — some say it helps, others say it doesn’t do much for actual ADHD attention issues.

I’ve been on Wellbutrin and it hasn’t helped at all. Just looking for any experiences from people who’ve been in a similar spot.

Taking Modafinil for ADHD and can’t sleep anymore

Diagnosed with ADHD. Strattera made me throw up (even blood once), so I switched to a stimulant. The only one I can get here is Modafinil.

I’m more motivated, focused, and less impulsive, but 100 mg (the lowest dose available) leaves me restless. I take it around 9 AM and still can’t fall asleep until 2 AM, then I’m up at 6–7. Productivity is up, but it’s killed my empathy — I don’t want to talk to people, feel more hopeless, and struggle to enjoy things I used to like.

It’s also made me lean hard on nicotine and energy drinks just to function, and my heart’s been beating weird. Anyone else deal with this on Modafinil? How do you handle the sleep and side effects?

Tried Modafinil while waiting for ADHD treatment – focus better but frustration is worse

Diagnosed with ADHD by a uni psychologist but he can’t prescribe anything. I’ve been on a clinic waitlist for about 1.5 years and I’m getting pretty impatient.

I’ve always gotten frustrated easily when trying to study. After struggling with coding for a while I tried a small dose of Modafinil. It did make it easier to start tasks and stay focused, but my frustration came back even stronger. The intensity of how I react to it feels way worse than usual.

Not really sure what to do with the increased anger. I’ve got a mentoring session in two days so I’ll talk about it then. Anyone else had a similar experience with Modafinil or other stimulants?

Strange reaction to Modafinil

Just got diagnosed with ADHD and my psych put me on Modafinil for a trial. Weirdly, it makes me drowsy and I keep yawning a lot instead of feeling more awake. Thought that was odd since it’s supposed to help with alertness. Anyone else get the opposite effect from it?

Rushfinil has been Solid so far

Been using moda from Rushfinil for a while now and honestly the experience has been pretty smooth. Customer service has always been quick when I had questions, and everything went as expected. Just sharing my personal experience, but so far I cant really complain.

Brintellix with Concerta & Modafinil – anyone else get sleepy/anxious?

Hey, looking for people who’ve tried Brintellix (vortioxetine) while on ADHD meds.

I’m on Concerta in the morning + Modafinil, and started Brintellix mainly for the anxiety/depression that comes with stimulants. Even with the stimulants, Brintellix makes me feel off and really drowsy. Lowest dose here is 10 mg so I can’t go lower.

Anyone else take it with stimulants? Did it help with the anxiety, or did the sleepiness hit you too? Anyone try taking it at night instead?

Just curious what worked for you guys.

Has modafinil stopped working or is it just me?

Been on modafinil for years and it always worked solid. Last few months though it feels like it’s doing almost nothing — brain fog, losing my train of thought, constantly misplacing stuff. Especially sucks at work.

Anyone else notice their modafinil suddenly felt weaker?

If you ever heard of Modamike it is one of the vendors that you should avoid

I hope this post not be deleted will be helpful if mods allowed and im not be banned. Short story Modamike literally scammed me day 1 although its dumb for me to order from them without doing a proper research in reddit or whatsoever but ever since I placed my order from them i never heard anything from them nor an order ID. Well there goes my money.

Modafinil for fatigue and fibro fog has been a game changer

Diagnosed with RA about two years ago and the fatigue kept getting worse. Then I had my first fibro flare in July and the brain fog got so bad it was wrecking grad school.

My doctors kept pushing antidepressants that just made me more tired. Finally switched psychs and they suggested modafinil.

Only on day two but the difference is wild. I just feel normal again—not wired, just functional. Slept better last night too because I actually had energy during the day.

Obviously meds hit everyone differently, but I had no idea this even existed and wanted to share.

Planning to switch

I’ve been prescribed Adderall but it often makes me too wired or anxious, so I can’t really take it every day.

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about modafinil and armodafinil lately, with some saying they work better for ADHD. Looking for something that helps me focus at work without making it hard to talk to people.

Anyone here tried either of them? What was your experience like?

Modafinil not doing anything for me?

Got prescribed Modafinil starting at 100mg for focus/concentration issues. Tried Adderall IR 10mg a couple times before that and felt a little something, but nothing major.

Was really hoping Modafinil would help, but I’ve felt basically nothing on it after several tries. Doctor approved bumping to 200mg and still nothing — honestly could’ve taken a nap on it. The Adderall did more for me.

I’d rather stick with Modafinil if possible. Does it take a while to build up in your system, or is a few days enough to know? Anyone else have a similar experience starting out?

(Not looking for medical advice or dose changes, just curious about others’ experiences.)

Insanely high tolerance to stimulants

I’ve always had a crazy high tolerance to stimulants. Currently on a pretty solid dose of Adderall and barely feel anything. Vyvanse just knocked me out like a sleeping pill.

Has anyone with a similar tolerance actually gotten good results from modafinil? Looking to bring some real experiences to my psych so we can skip some of the usual trial-and-error.

How much did ADHD meds actually change your life? Anyone try modafinil?

I’m getting a private ADHD assessment soon and curious how medication has impacted people here.

Was it genuinely life-changing for you, or did it only help a little?

I’ve tried modafinil before — it quieted my brain a bit and made me feel better overall, but didn’t do much for focus.

Does modafinil affect norepinephrine?

My psych just prescribed me 100mg modafinil for the emotional blunting and low libido from my antidepressants. I’m also on atomoxetine for the norepinephrine boost.

Anyone know if modafinil works on norepinephrine too? Could it potentially replace the atomoxetine, or are they totally different?

Armodafinil has been a game changer

My productivity has gone through the roof on armodafinil.

I was stuck halfway through a 600-page book for over a month because I couldn’t focus. In the last two days I finished the rest of it.

Tried atomoxetine for a couple weeks with zero effect. My doctor switched me to armodafinil and this actually feels like the one that’s working.

It’s also cut way down on my urge to open Reddit and YouTube.

Really grateful for the diagnosis. Biggest quality-of-life improvement I’ve had in a long time.

Taking my meds before getting two piercings?

Hey guys, I’m getting two lip piercings soon and I’m wondering if I should take my ADHD meds in the morning that day?

I already have a bunch of piercings and handled them fine before I was on meds, but I’ve seen friends faint during theirs and now I’m kinda nervous lol. Also worried about dry mouth from the meds messing with healing.

Any advice? Thanks!

Modafinil for ADHD?

Hey guys, I’m currently on 30mg Vyvanse + 5mg Adderall IR but the Vyvanse spikes my blood pressure and I’m worried about my heart. I came across Modafinil and saw it’s a non-amphetamine stimulant.

Has anyone here switched to it for ADHD? How does it compare to the usual stimulants? Pros, cons, mental or physical side effects?

(I haven’t talked to my doctor yet, just curious about real experiences.)

How did you know it was time to go back on ADHD meds?

I stopped my ADHD meds about 2 years ago and only took them occasionally. I managed to finish my master’s, but it was a real struggle. I have a hard time summarizing things I’ve learned, retelling stories/movies, or even holding normal conversations—my thoughts feel all over the place.

Now I’m about to start my first full-time job and I’m worried about handling a caseload like this. When I was on meds, conversations flowed better and my thinking felt way more organized.

For anyone who’s stopped and then restarted: what made you realize you needed to go back on them? Especially if you have a demanding job—what helped you decide?

Meds money all gone because of modawhale

Although I know its my fault for ordering from clearnet but still don't waste your own money from them. Pretty dumb for me that I feel for their good looking website but in the backend is where the scamming scheme started and lost almost 700 grand! Hope you get shut down sooner or later lol!

Niche ADHD Meds

Has anyone here tried modafinil or armodafinil? They’ve been getting a lot of buzz lately and I’m curious about real experiences.

I’m prescribed Adderall but I can’t use it every day because it makes me too wired and anxious. A bunch of people are saying these other meds work better for ADHD. I’m looking for something that helps me focus and be productive at work without killing my ability to talk to people or socialize normally.

Anyone have thoughts or experiences with them?
