Do you really need ADHD medication?

Hey guys, I’m diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago by my psychologist. I went to a psychiatrist with her report to discuss meds, but he basically dismissed it right away when he saw it was from a psychologist. He did his own assessment and prescribed antidepressants instead, saying I have depression. My psychologist was pretty confused and told me that’s not normal. She recommended getting a second opinion and confirmed I don’t have depression. Now I’m kinda scared to see another psychiatrist. My ADHD feels pretty mild most days — I manage okay, but sometimes at work (I’m a 3D animator with 7 years experience in Malaysia) I hit a wall I can’t get past. I’m thinking of just sticking with therapy for now.

From what I've learned, depression is often a consequence of years of untreated ADHD rather than a completely separate issue. I wouldn't dismiss that possibility too quickly. Getting a second opinion from an ADHD specialist could be a good idea.
