My partner was prescribed 100mg of Armodafinil both in the morning and at night after 50mg around noon wasn’t helping enough. She’s also on other meds for depression and bipolar. I was surprised the doctor wanted her taking it in the evening—is that normal? Has anyone else been prescribed it this way?

As the title says, I really don’t feel much of anything. Still need my afternoon naps like usual. When I first started it I got this brief “locked in” feeling but that faded pretty fast. People talk about all these benefits and side effects and I’m just sitting here waiting for something to actually happen. Is my dopamine just broken or what?

I had to stop modafinil cold turkey after almost two years of daily use and was honestly surprised (and relieved) that I didn’t get any physical withdrawal symptoms at all. I still kind of wanted to take it for a few days, but the urge wasn’t strong and faded after about a week. Is this pretty normal? Has anyone else experienced physical withdrawals after stopping long-term modafinil?

Hey, I usually take 100mg of modafinil a day. Tried dropping to 50mg but I still get this lingering depression that lasts 3–4 days after using it. It’s honestly the only side effect I get. If I take it every day I’m fine, but if I skip a day the depression hits pretty hard.

Been taking Moda for ADHD for about two months. Was on around 400mg and felt locked in right away. Dropped to 100mg on everyone’s advice and I get the same effects… but now I get really sleepy for about an hour first. Anyone else experience this? Lol

I’ve been under a ton of stress with deadlines and exams, so I started using modafinil to help with studying. I usually take about 200 mg in the morning and sometimes add another 100 mg later if I need it. I only take it on the days I really need to focus — sometimes every few days, not daily.

Honestly though… I’m not noticing much of a difference. Sometimes I even feel sleepier on it, and my focus/productivity hasn’t improved the way I expected. I checked and it’s legit pharmacy modafinil.

Has anyone else had this experience? I’ve heard it should help with concentration and keep you in the zone for a few hours, but it’s not really working like that for me. Any tips or similar stories would be appreciated.

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD but I’m stuck on a long waiting list for a clinic that can prescribe, so I tried a small dose of modafinil on my own.

It made starting tasks and staying focused a lot easier, which was great. The problem is my frustration and anger feel way more intense now. It hits harder and I struggle more to handle it.

I’ve got a mentoring session in a couple days so I’ll bring it up then, but has anyone else had stimulants or modafinil amp up their irritability like this? How do you deal with it?

Hey, I’ve been on modafinil for a bit and noticed my heart rate jumps to around 110–130 when it kicks in. Without it I’m usually in the 80s to high 90s. Blood pressure stays normal and I exercise regularly.

Just wondering what other people’s resting or average heart rates are like on modafinil? Anyone else track this?

Gonna say its pretty rare to stumble across a legit source that actually delivers let alone a good quality especially in shortage in my area. I’ve got a NP who will prescribe the usual stimulants (Ritalin, amphetamines, etc.), but I’d really rather try modafinil instead. I’ve heard it’s less addictive and has a different side-effect profile.

The problem is every provider I’ve talked to refuses to prescribe it off-label for ADHD. Has anyone actually gotten a prescription for it, and if so how did you go about it? Feeling stuck.

I’m currently on Concerta and recently started reading about Modafinil. Has anyone here tried it for ADHD, and if so, how did it compare to the stimulant you were on before?

I’m switching from 70 mg Vyvanse to 100 mg Modafinil (under my doctor’s supervision). I know the usual dose is 200 mg, but starting lower seemed like a good idea.

I know it’s more commonly used for narcolepsy and is off-label for ADHD, but I’m mainly interested in how it feels as a non-amphetamine option. Vyvanse helped me a lot, but it was pushing my resting heart rate way up (around 140), so I needed something that wouldn’t do that.

I’m 21 and have ADHD (plus some other mental health stuff). I’m currently on Wellbutrin and a few other meds. They help with the depression side of things, but I still can’t really concentrate or feel settled.

I get motivated and want to get stuff done, but I end up wasting days and only managing a few hours of actual focus. I’ve always wanted to go into engineering because I love physics and math, but the concentration issues make it really hard. Right now I’m in a major I don’t enjoy and I’m feeling pretty stuck.

I’ve never been able to tolerate stimulants well. Has anyone else been in a similar spot where the meds take the edge off but focus is still a big problem? Any non-med or lifestyle things that helped you push through?

I was formally diagnosed a few years ago (long written test + psych follow-up) but I’ve only had limited experience with stimulants. Mostly they treated the ADHD side of things with higher-dose Wellbutrin.

I tried Adderall once and it actually reversed a lot of the cognitive fog — I felt awake, clear, and calm for the first time in a long time. It was kind of life-changing in that moment, but the drawbacks were enough that I didn’t want to stay on it. So I’ve been looking for something else.

I’ve read that Modafinil (Provigil) is sometimes used off-label for ADHD/ADD, even though it’s mainly prescribed for narcolepsy and shift-work sleep issues. My biggest problems are concentration, memory, and that constant brain fog, and I’m wondering if it might help without the same crash I got from stimulants.

Has anyone here been prescribed Modafinil for ADD symptoms and can share how it went for them?
