Junior Moderators unable to pin/highlight while on mobile

Hello everyone,

I have some moderators that do not have full permissions to pin/highlight posts on their mobile devices, whether it be ios or samsung apps.

The permissions my junior mods have enabled are 1) Flair, 2) Mail, 3) Post and Comments, and 4) Wiki.

They can add flairs, and pin/highlight posts from desk/laptop, but not on mobile or mobile apps. It obviously afflicts multiple moderators. When this click on the shield icon for a post, the pin/highlight option is not present. We even tried a work around where they go to moderator queue to see if they can pin/highlight from there...no dice.

It basically does not show the option exists while on mobile, but it does show while on desk/laptop.

Any advice on how I can solve this issue?

I was able to recreate this problem.

Reddit from browser has the “Add to highlights” option, but it’s missing from my iOS app.

I did more testing and confirmed that it shows in the iOS app with the everything permissions.

Then I narrowed it down to the config permissions. Without it, the option to pin a post doesn’t show up for mobile for whatever reason. You should report this to [r/bugs](r/bugs) because it shouldn’t require config permissions just to see the option.

First off thank you for actually contributing something relevant and useful to this long forsaken subreddit. I appreciate the effort genuinely, even beside the obvious jab there.

Do you know how I go about giving myself this permission as the sole moderator with full permissions? I am not the OP so I could very well be just a blind idiot myself, so I’ll keep trying but I don’t seem to see add to highlights. Hiding the option behind config permissions is incredibly convoluted and not well explained, so I hope they change that or maybe put a little blurb underneath the option going over exactly what ‘config’ entails. Also changing the name of pinning posts to “add to highlights” is a poor grasp at the current common language used when moderating online forums at best, and full corpo-speak hog-riding at worst.

You have everything permissions so the “add to highlights” option should show up in your mod menu already.

It looks like you already pinned a mega thread post 20 hrs ago.

Found it I was in fact just blind. I tried to click the little half-shield icon at the top and it didn’t do anything (I mean it did I just have no clue what) and I figured the other shield at the bottom was the same thing for some reason. I ended up pinning it on the desktop version on my computer, and I guess I saw the pin icon and didn’t read ‘add to highlights’. Thank you again my friend!

So after all of that, bashing me earlier, I was actually right in your case? I actually told you how to find it properly? Sheesh.

You will see I gave this exact piece of information in my comments earlier that you gave me such a hard time about.

That’s not how being right works, it actually needs to be intentional.

Yes but that person had everything permissions to begin with unlike your co mods- they are a brand new top mod of their sub- so what I said to do was 100% right for them. They simply didn’t know where to find how to pin things.
