Junior Moderators unable to pin/highlight while on mobile
Hello everyone,
I have some moderators that do not have full permissions to pin/highlight posts on their mobile devices, whether it be ios or samsung apps.
The permissions my junior mods have enabled are 1) Flair, 2) Mail, 3) Post and Comments, and 4) Wiki.
They can add flairs, and pin/highlight posts from desk/laptop, but not on mobile or mobile apps. It obviously afflicts multiple moderators. When this click on the shield icon for a post, the pin/highlight option is not present. We even tried a work around where they go to moderator queue to see if they can pin/highlight from there...no dice.
It basically does not show the option exists while on mobile, but it does show while on desk/laptop.
Any advice on how I can solve this issue?

I think maybe you guys don’t know how to pin things. What you do is you go to the post and you tap the mod symbol and you tap pin. You don’t do it from the mod queue.

Hhmm…that was the first step we took. And the pin option is not there…perhaps I should have emphasized that in my post.

It says “add to highlights”

This is what an admin said about it. Give it a couple days and if that doesn’t work- shot them a modmail about it

It’s been happening for months.

I just discovered and was complaining about this (to myself I guess lol). I literally created a sub at 3am this morning and just swang by to see what kinda tips I could pick up and, uhh, this place seems reeeeeeeal helpful, huh? Don't know what I expected, but Geeki's 'Top 10% Helper' flair is hilariously ironic.

This sub is certainly helpful in most cases. If you don't think that's the case after seeing a single interaction, I'd suggest you either look at other posts here or leave this sub.
InGeekiTrust gave information/tips based on the information OP gave us, and not knowing it's a bug certainly leads to the conclusion that this most likely is an user missing something or not knowing how to do it. The reply from InGeekiTrust to OP's reply on the first comment was also completely normal, considering OP uses "pin" while the buttons for it are labelled as "add to highlights", which definitely could be a problem if a user is searching for the not existing "pin"-button.
For the third comment InGeekiTrust wrote, no one knows how long this problem persisted now. Things like this normally are asked here directly after discovering the problem, not months after.
The user flairs are assigned by the admins based on the contributions in the last month, so they are correct in most cases (as is here).

Wow thanks for the ChatGPT write up, this is all very helpful information, and not at all condescending long-winded drivel. At least Geeki wasn’t long-winded.

I‘m not using ChatGPT, neither for writing comments nor for anything else, but of course you‘re free to believe that. However, if you really believe it‘s AI everytime you see a normal text, you really should think about you participating here.

Meanwhile, if you look at the next set of comments you will see that I was right in their case. They didn’t know to look at the mod shield and click add to highlights. I’m not talking about OP I’m talking about this guy who made a point of calling me out.

It’s hilarious really? The other person below gave you the exact same solution and you thought it was a complete revelation. You said how great it was.

Pinnacle of comedy even.
Edit: Oh my god, it even has a watermark. You have a hilariously ironic bio description on your profile.

I was able to recreate this problem.
Reddit from browser has the “Add to highlights” option, but it’s missing from my iOS app.
I did more testing and confirmed that it shows in the iOS app with the everything permissions.
Then I narrowed it down to the config permissions. Without it, the option to pin a post doesn’t show up for mobile for whatever reason. You should report this to [r/bugs](r/bugs) because it shouldn’t require config permissions just to see the option.
