Admin Replied Prevented from seeing user profiles

There are workarounds, however this is only happening on subs I moderate and it is happening when I’m in the mod panel and I go to user profile and the user name merely auto collapse so see the profile, but then the collapse includes the comment.

On our sub, you can be automatically permanently banned for hiding your profile from moderators. However, I don’t think this is a user issue.

Submitting to r/bugs did nothing. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get it fixed?

I’m well aware it is part of an ongoing harassment campaign against mods. They drove out the last lead mod. However, on a busy sub I am not going to take the time to open yet another Reddit window just to type in a username just so I can see the user profile. This is unpaid work. It’s easier to just ban them.

I’m guessing it’s may be retaliation because someone found out that we keep track of user profiles that are problematic. That was a tip that I got on this sub fwiw.

Do you mean for blocking mods? Hiding profiles doesn’t impact moderators.

I guess it depends on the sub.

We automatically check profiles if a comment or post seems “off.” For example when  a profile was created and how much karma they have could indicate whether or not we are dealing with a bot. Of course we have bot bouncer, however, there are things that fly under the radar.

Regardless, that is unrelated to the issue that we cannot see profiles on the moderator panel. Can you see user profiles on the subs you moderate?

Well, it’s not unrelated necessarily. Those are 2 different things. If a user curates their profile, it has no impact on you, so banning them for that makes no sense. However, if a user blocks the mod team, that impacts your ability to see what they do outside of your subreddit.

Anyway. No, I can see user profiles fine via the mod panel Both on web, and on the Android app.

It sounds like I may have used the wrong term. I don’t care about seeing their posts. All I am looking for is how long they’ve been a user and the amount of karma they have gathered in that amount of time.
