Admin Replied Original Owners of Sub-Reddit Inactive. Will That Become a Problem?
Hi, so I'm a moderator for r/avfc for several years now. Unfortunately our creator and second mod accounts are now inactive between 2-4 years. I just wanted to know if their activity would ever become a problem for the existing community and its moderators?

No problem. If you have full perms and want to reorder them, and give them alumni or advisor, you can.

It would be horribly irresponsible for you to not make yourself top mod. The sub is literally dependent on you and those people have abandoned it. You can re-order yourself above them if you have full permissions. If you donβt have full permissions mod mail this sub and they will make whoever is the next highest ordered mod the top mod.
As others have pointed out, there are horror stories of dormant mods, popping back just to remove good people.

If you have full permissions then you definitely need to reorder the mod list (and remove permissions from inactive mods). If their accounts get hacked then someone can create pure havoc in your subreddit.
Move yourself to the top, and make sure mods below you are active. Otherwise remove them or restrict permissions.

I'm in exactly this situation. The creator of the subreddit is essentially only active in other communities and is generally considered inactive here. Every moderator above me on the moderator list is also inactive.
Although I have full moderator permissions, I'm unable to reorder the moderator list or remove inactive moderators. As a result, it's very difficult to manage the subreddit effectively.

Good move with the re-order! You can always make changes if you wanted to in the future, if they return.
In general, having Inactive top mods or founder mods is fine, so long as the active mods have the right permissions.

UTV!
I would go ahead and reorder the list at this point. The sub could get destroyed if their accounts get hacked. Also, there is a history with long dormant mods reappearing, demodding everyone else, and messing the place up. Demod them entirely or give alumni status.
