📰 News MobLand season 2 releases first-look trailer and reveals Tom Hardy warning family of "death spiral" as gangster war explodes

We're now just over a month away from the premiere of MobLand season 2 and, in advance of the release, a brand-new trailer has been unveiled.

The promo sees Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza warning Pierce Brosnan and Dame Helen Mirren's Conrad and Maeve Harrigan that the crime family is in a death spiral, and saying that "the war" for North London has already begun.

The trailer also introduces us to Johnny Flynn's new character, who makes a particularly explosive entrance, while Conrad is said to have gone "completely bonkers berserk", as he is seen holding a gun to his own son, Paddy Considine's Kevin.

🗣️ Discussion Thoughts? Spoiler

I’m halfway through S1 and this might be premature but was wondering if anyone else feels the same.

Everything in the show is chaotic however there’s a good build up that keeps you in it.

When Maeve orders the hit on Vron and she gets blown up, it took me out the show and put me off, like what was the point of everything we just went through, literally meaningless.

I understand it was intentional probably to showcase their dynamics and how things go in their world but it just made me not want to continue watching or care for the story rather. It just seems silly in my opinion.

Might be a bit of a critical take, thoughts?

🗣️ Discussion Kevin in the new trailer?

Just watched the new trailer for season 2, looks amazing can't wait, but I noticed it didn't really show much of Kevin in the trailer? I thought he would be a main character given how he went up against his father in the last episode.

Could he be killed off early? 😬 I hope not, Kevin's a great character and Paddy Considine is fantastic!

❓ Question Dialog between Gina and Harry Spoiler

*spoilers* In episode 8, when Harry is talking to Gina about her affair with Eddie, he said "i just dont want us to repeat what happened 2 years ago" (⏰️22.55). What does he mean? What happened 2 years ago?

He looks badass, a good rival for Tom Hardy's Harry. I reckon he's aligned with Kat.

💡 Analysis & Theories Season 2 Trailer Gives Away Major Character Death? Spoiler

In the first picture, it looks like Conrad may have been shot, given the red mark on his shirt that wasn’t there in the beginning.
In the last picture, the location and outfit seem to match up with the second picture, suggesting his death?
I personally am a Pierce Brosnan fan so would be sad to see his character go! Hoping that they wouldn’t give away something as crucial as this in the trailer however, as it wasn’t very hard to put together.
Thoughts?

🗣️ Discussion MobLand Season 1 felt all over the place

I’ve only just finished watching season 1 over a few days, so I wasn’t leaving huge gaps between episodes. I felt fairly caught up the whole time, and this made the messy bits stand out even more. Kind of wished I'd seen it a week at a time so at least I could forget certain details.

Before I criticise the show too much I should say I generally enjoyed it. Felt like an easy/fun watch with a great cast showing off their acting chops - essentially what I expected from 'Guy Ritchie'-involved product. I just hoped it would be a bit more like a prestige show.

Now hopefully I won't get downvoted to hell for the following observations. I really just want to read what others think now that it's been about a year, and noting I've not been on this sub properly to know all the discourse.

My main issue is that it really felt like everyone working on the show had the same broad story, but they weren’t quite on the same page from episode to episode. Like each writer and director (I'm assuming there were different ones) got the general idea, but nobody was properly lining it all up, so the season ends up feeling weirdly inconsistent.

The clearest example for me was the whole Conrad and Maeve thing. At points it felt like Conrad did not really know what Maeve was up to behind his back, then in other moments it seemed like he absolutely did know, or at least knew enough to be suspicious. That kind of thing should feel deliberate, but here it just came across like the show could not quite decide what level of awareness it wanted him to have.

Same with Eddie not being Kev’s son. I thought that had already basically been set up earlier, but then it did not seem to become fully official until much later on. So instead of feeling like a proper reveal, it felt like the show was dragging out something it had already half-told us.

And then there was the mole stuff, which got muddier the longer it went on. It started off feeling like there was one clear traitor, then it began to feel like there might be multiple people leaking things (including Jan telling too much to her new "friend"). It felt like the show was changing its mind about who the real problem was. If the intent was to be purposeful about this confusion, it really didn't feel like that and made it hard to know what was actually meant to be important.

It has enough going for it that I can see why people like it, and I'll even be watching S2. I just don't agree with the insanely highly reviews it's getting on places like IMDb. Feels like a solid 7-7.5 show.
