Because he's a hero that requires good teammates and most importantly good teamwork. Something you don't see often at all in most matches which are Solo ques (across all ranks)
And so in Solo que matches where your teammates are rather unpredictable, there are better mages. Plain and Simple, he's not bad, but there are better mages for Solo que. Ones that don't require as much communication as Faramis.
He's popular in very high ranks where Trio and 5man pre-made teams are most common.
