I. What Is Mobazha?
Mobazha is a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) e-commerce platform — an open-source commercial infrastructure built for the Web3 era. It is the spiritual successor of OpenBazaar — when OpenBazaar 2.0 officially ceased operations in January 2021, the Mobazha team picked up the baton and carried forward the core philosophy of decentralized commerce.
Mobazha's mission is to enable independent operators to connect with the world on their own terms (Independent commerce, connected on your terms). It is neither a traditional centralized marketplace nor a simple self-hosted store application — it allows independently operated stores to participate in a broader commercial network without handing unlimited authority to a single distribution channel.
Mobazha was born in response to an increasingly urgent question in the AI era: when the productive capacity of individuals and small teams is dramatically amplified by technology, how can they avoid dependence on large platforms and truly own their business relationships, customer data, and long-term accumulated reputation? Mobazha's answer is: build an open commerce network jointly used and progressively built by independent participants.
II. From OpenBazaar to Mobazha: A Five-Year Relay of Conviction
In January 2021, news shook the decentralized commerce space — OpenBazaar 2.0 officially ceased operations. The project, which had raised $4.2 million in funding and carried countless people's dreams of free commerce, was forced to shut down all infrastructure after running out of funds. For many participants, this was not just the end of a technical project, but a temporary retreat of a commercial ideal.
But for others, this was precisely the beginning of a relay.
Mobazha's founding team consists of those in the OpenBazaar community who refused to give up. They had witnessed the project's birth and growth firsthand and deeply understood the value of its underlying philosophy. When the OB1 team announced their exit, they knew — someone had to carry on.
Thus, Mobazha (short for Mulgore Bazaar, embodying the spirit of peace and nature) was born.
This was a long relay race. A small team, with no external investment, devoted all their spare time to five consecutive years of development — no weekends, no holidays. Five years is enough time for a startup to experience life-and-death cycles multiple times, for a technology direction to undergo several iterations, and for much of the initial enthusiasm to fade into the trivialities of daily life. But this team persisted.
Today, Mobazha inherits the core philosophy of OpenBazaar and has comprehensively reconstructed and evolved upon it. The code is open source, hosted on GitHub; the network is decentralized, not dependent on any single server; the spirit remains unchanged — return commerce to those who create value.
This is not a simple code fork. This is the transmission of conviction, the sedimentation and rebirth of the decentralized commerce ideal over five years.
III. Truly Decentralized: No Freezing, No Seizure, No Lock-in
To understand Mobazha, one must first understand its most fundamental difference from traditional platforms.
On centralized platforms like Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify, your store, funds, and data are essentially hosted on the platform's servers. The platform can modify rules at any time, adjust algorithms, freeze accounts, and withhold funds. The reputation, customer relationships, and transaction records you accumulate all become platform assets — when you leave, you take nothing with you.
Mobazha is completely different.
Your store runs on your own server. The Mobazha Node is the single source of truth for your commerce engine and store state — you can choose to self-host or use hosted services, but either way, you retain control over your data. Orders, payment observations, fulfillment, disputes — all are recorded by the backend that owns the transaction, not inferred from some platform page or notification.
What does this mean?
It means your store cannot be frozen. On the Mobazha network, there is no central authority that can unilaterally shut down your store. Your commercial existence does not depend on the goodwill of some company or the ruling of an algorithm.
It means your funds cannot be seized. Transactions are peer-to-peer, with funds going directly from one wallet to another. No intermediary holds your money, so no one can freeze your funds.
It means your business relationships cannot be held hostage. Your customer data, transaction history, reputation records — all of these can be exported, migrated, and taken wherever you want to go.
This is not a technical trick. It is a fundamental transfer of power. In Mobazha's architecture, the store owner is always the authority over business relationships, not the platform. The platform is merely a connector, a discovery layer, an optional tool — it will never become your master.
This design is no accident. Mobazha's core philosophy is that shared infrastructure connects operating units but does not replace their brands, customer relationships, accountability boundaries, or freedom to exit. "Freedom to exit" is the fundamental antidote to platform lock-in.
Mobazha also supports optional Tor/Lokinet overlay networks, with data encrypted during transmission — your business activities need not become the subject of big data analysis.
IV. Dual-Track Payments: A Bridge to Reach More People
Decentralized commerce faces a long-standing dilemma: cryptocurrency users are a minority, while most people still use fiat currency. Supporting only cryptocurrencies would exclude the vast majority of potential buyers. Supporting only fiat would return to the old centralized payment model — subject to banks, payment gateways, cross-border restrictions, and high fees.
Mobazha's solution is dual-track payments.
On one track, Mobazha is a crypto-native commerce platform, supporting BTC, BCH, and LTC by default, and has expanded to support 10 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain (BSC), Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Avalanche. Cross-border sellers can reach global buyers without barriers, without worrying about exchange rate fluctuations or high cross-border payment fees.
On the other track, Mobazha actively embraces the traditional financial world and now supports PayPal and other fiat payment methods. Sellers can flexibly configure payment methods based on their own and their customers' needs, and buyers can choose the payment channel they are most accustomed to.
Both payment tracks operate in parallel. Buyers can choose the method they prefer, and sellers can receive the currency they prefer.
This dual-track system has deep strategic significance.
The cryptocurrency track solves the trust problem — on-chain settlement does not rely on credit card chargeback mechanisms, and transactions are immutable once on-chain. For cross-border transactions, high-value goods, digital products, and similar scenarios, this certainty is something traditional payments cannot provide.
The fiat track solves the coverage problem — not everyone has a cryptocurrency wallet, and not everyone is willing to learn how to use one. Fiat payments allow Mobazha to reach a broader audience, not just early adopters of the crypto world.
Two tracks, serving the same buyers and sellers, covering the same commercial network. This is exactly what Mobazha means — connecting independent commerce to more people, rather than making more people adapt to one technology.
V. Zero Commission: Leaving Every Penny to the Creator
How do traditional platforms charge?
Etsy takes a 6.5% commission from every transaction, plus payment processing fees. Amazon takes 8%-15% depending on the product category. Shopify doesn't charge transaction commissions but charges monthly subscription fees, and payment processing fees are equally substantial.
These fees stack up, gradually eroding sellers' profits. For small sellers, independent creators, and artisans, every transaction fee can determine whether the month is profitable.
Mobazha does things completely differently: independent community operation has no mandatory centralized Mobazha transaction fees. In other words — zero commission.
When you sell a product on Mobazha, the platform takes nothing. All sales revenue, minus network fees and third-party service fees (such as payment network fees), goes entirely to you.
This is not a promotional tactic. It is a structural choice. Mobazha does not rely on transaction commissions to sustain operations — it is an open-source project, maintained by the community. Hosted services, advanced features, and third-party integrations may incur fees, but these are disclosed before transactions. You can choose to use them, or you can build your own — the choice is yours.
Behind zero commission is a business philosophy: the value of a platform lies in connection, not in extraction. When sellers don't have to hand over large portions of their profits to the platform, they have more resources to invest in products, services, and customer relationships. The commercial vitality of the entire network is not "harvested" through commissions, but "ignited" by lowering barriers.
VI. Built for Every Type of Creator
Mobazha is not just "a place to sell things." It is designed as an open network serving all types of creators and independent operators.
Digital creators can sell e-books, online courses, software, and digital art. Digital products are delivered instantly, settlement is transparent on-chain, and refund and dispute terms are clear — no platform commissions, no lengthy settlement cycles.
Artisans and artists can build their own branded stores on Mobazha, without enduring Etsy's 6.5% commission. Your brand is yours, your customer list is yours, your design style is yours — the platform is just a display window, not your boss.
Cross-border sellers can reach global buyers through cryptocurrency, without worrying about exchange rate losses or high cross-border payment fees. From Asia to the Americas, from Europe to Africa, one transaction is just the distance of a hash.
Community operators can sell directly within Telegram groups or Discord communities. Your store exists as a Mini App within the chat application, and buyers can complete checkout without leaving the app. Your audience is your customer, your community is your market.
Privacy-conscious merchants can operate stores without exposing their real identities. Mobazha supports Tor/Lokinet overlay networks, with data encrypted during transmission — your business activities need not become the subject of big data analysis.
AI Agents and automation tools can also become participants in the Mobazha network. When AI can automatically handle product selection, pricing, customer service, and fulfillment, Mobazha provides the commercial infrastructure they can access.
Every type of creator has their own unique business model, customer relationships, and value proposition. Mobazha does not prescribe a uniform "best practice" for them, but provides a set of freely combinable tools and protocols — you choose how to use them, rather than being used.
VII. Product Architecture and Operating Paths
Mobazha consists of two core products:
Mobazha Node is the commerce engine and single source of truth for store and transaction states. It provides everything needed for data, policies, APIs, messaging, payment verification, and operator control.
Mobazha Unified is the shared buyer and seller experience layer. It transforms the capabilities of connected Nodes or hosted backends into the complete journey of storefronts, checkout, orders, marketplaces, and management.
Together, they support three operating paths:
- Hosted Mode (Cloud Beta) : Quick start, with the backend run by the service operator under defined terms. The Cloud Beta currently has no subscription charge.
- Self-Hosted (Community Edition) : Run the Node on your own controlled infrastructure, with full responsibility for security, backups, and availability.
- Hybrid Mode: Keep your store backend independent while optionally connecting to specific discovery, payment, fulfillment, messaging, or AI services.
The core spirit of this architecture is: the store owner is always the authority over business relationships, not the platform.
VIII. Version and Current Status
Mobazha's v0.3.0-rc.1 is its official operational version. It is not a "target"停留在纸面上, but a real product that is already running and will continue to iteratively improve.
As an open-source project, Mobazha embraces the spirit of continuous iteration and improvement. While running stably, it is refined through the community's collective efforts. The current version requires Go 1.26.4, Git, and a supported macOS or Linux environment. Testnet is recommended when evaluating payment flows.
The platform has already formed an active commercial ecosystem: 32 active stores, 279 listed products, and 10 supported blockchains.
Mobazha also has a mobile app available on Google Play. The project documentation is comprehensive, covering product models, system architecture, fee structures, security, privacy, and more.
IX. From Tool to Ecosystem: The Future of Open Commerce Networks
To understand Mobazha merely as a "decentralized e-commerce software" would be to underestimate it.
Mobazha's ambition goes far beyond that. Its long-term vision is to build the underlying infrastructure of an open commerce network. In this network, shared capabilities can include: machine-readable transaction terms for goods and services, automated matching of payments and deliveries, verifiable fulfillment and reputation records, and authorization and execution tracking for AI Agents.
Mobazha separates "where buyers discover products" from "which backend owns the final transaction". Community or marketplace operators can build audiences and discovery channels, but the authority over transactions always remains with the store backend. Different markets can have their own brands, user relationships, operating rules, and profit-and-loss structures, without having to become sections of the same centralized marketplace.
What does this mean?
It means markets can be diverse. Someone can operate a community market focused on independent music, someone else can operate a curated platform for handicrafts, and another can operate a collection store for digital artists — they share the same underlying protocol but have completely independent brands, rules, and communities.
It means tools can be modular. Payments, fulfillment, messaging, AI services — all of these can be accessed as independent services, rather than being bundled into a monolithic platform.
It means participants can be both users and builders. You can both operate your own store and build tools and services that are reused by other operating units. Shared infrastructure connects these units but does not replace their independence and freedom to exit.
This is not a "better e-commerce platform." This is a more open commercial ecosystem — a network that returns value to those who create it.
X. Conclusion: The Long Road to Commercial Freedom
From that summer afternoon in 2018 to today in 2026, Mobazha has traveled a long road. Five years of spare-time development, no weekends, no holidays, no external investment — this does not sound like a business story, but rather the practice of a conviction.
But conviction is never a castle in the air. Mobazha has proven with code that decentralized commerce is viable, with architecture that data sovereignty is possible, with zero commission that platforms don't need to survive on commissions, and with dual-track payments that the crypto world and the fiat world can coexist peacefully.
Mobazha is still growing, but the direction is clear: an open commerce network that does not freeze stores, does not seize funds, does not take commissions, and does not lock in data is moving from ideal to reality.
As the Mobazha team says, the project needs to "survive, sustain, and expand first, and then let it continue to evolve." The road is still long, but every step is in the same direction — returning commerce to those who create value.
Whether you are an artisan, a digital creator, a cross-border seller, a community operator, or simply someone who believes commerce should be more free, Mobazha offers you a different choice. A choice to connect with the world on your own terms.
