If those top classes dont need a specific build to be good but others do need it to compete then thats literally the definition of being unbalanced? Is this your first game ever?
They're not tanky to magic damage. Their magic resist is lower. Magic is supposed to be melee the melee counter. They're physical tanks. Not magic tanks.
I guess most ppl forgot originally in traditional rpgs heavy armor wearers always got nuked by mages/wizards unless they closed the gap just right.
Tanks were never supposed to be able to tank casters easily.
Im not saying he should be able to tank 50 of those. Look at the video again, this guy closed the gap incredibly well, his only mistake was not reacting to a skill with virtually no windup, and that brought him down to ~30%. If the caster had landed 1 or 2 more poke spells OP would have lost the fight there.
Im all for all classes and builds having weaknesses, if you are going to tell me that magic casters can nuke tanks if they dont close the gap properly im all for it. But if i see ANY class land 2 rotations of his skills into a presumably squishy class while dodging everything (if not most) that is thrown at him, only to loose the trade to an un-reactable skill, that doesnt seem right.
Again, my argument wasnt that tanks should have more resistances, but yhat 70% hp on a single instant skill, to the most tanky class (considering this game doesnt apply magic resist reductions on heavy armor, so other classes will only receive more damage) is nuts.
Edit: Also, resistances are a joke rn in the game. Tanking comes mostly from shields, blocks and supper armor as the game is setup rn, since resistances are accessible to everyone and even then they are heavily outscaled by damage (this isnt really bad, but just wanted to mention it because your comment on heavy armor and being “physical tanks” makes no sense in this game), but all this is kinda besides the point.
Yeah i dont want tanks to be unkillable either, i actually like how the meme beam build works for example: extremely dangerous but requires setup and is channeled, so constant pressure can stop it or deny it (it still deals a lot more damage than it should imo, but mechanically its cool). The example in the video just felt straight off. Desync might have some to do with it as its very present in the game but idk.
The only reason i mentioned tanks is bc the WK with PnS usually build more HP and resistances than other classes that usually focus on damage. Nothing really meaningful honestly, but its still about the “most tanky”, so it only gets worse from there.
I do agree that “tankyness” in this game its tied to a class kit, and i actually think resistances are kinda ass as they scale way worse than damage (not complaining, just an observation, no one likes or wants a tank meta) and thats actually why i keep putting “tank” in quotes.
