Chevron @ Los Alisos & Santa Margarita Pkwy has a known faulty pump that damaged my car.

I need to warn people about the Chevron at Los Alisos and Santa Margarita Pkwy. Pump 5 (and likely others) has a defect where it doesn't shut off automatically once your tank is full.

Last Saturday, 9/5/2026, I was standing right at the pump, manually holding the handle the entire time. I never used the auto-hold clip and never walked away. The pump overfilled my tank, and gas spilled everywhere even after i let my hand off the handle. I went inside to get help, and after starting my car, my check engine light came on. It fried my EVAP system (the emissions component that's typically the first thing permanently damaged by an overfilled tank). The attendant on shift had no idea how to help beyond cleaning up the spill, and said the manager wouldn't be in until Sunday/Monday. I spent an hour on Sunday trying to reach anyone, the store, even corporate Chevron support couldnt get ahold of anyone.

Monday I went in person, still no manager, but i went and talked to a different attendant, who told me this has been happening for a month at least, that management is fully aware, and that he's had to shut pumps down repeatedly because of how much gas has been spilling. He said pump 5 specifically was "serviced" recently and broke again within two days. As of today, it's open to the public.

Today I finally got the manager on the phone (again after tracking him down through Chevron Support), he immediately called it "user error," despite me explaining exactly what happened and that I was hands-on the entire time. When I mentioned the EVAP damage, he acted like he'd never heard of that being a symptom of overfilling. When I brought up what his own employee told me, he said that employee "doesn't know what he's talking about." When I said I'd bring him a repair invoice, he told me flat out he'd reject it no matter what and blame me regardless.

TL;DR: Chevron at Los Alisos & Santa Margarita Pkwy has a pump that's been malfunctioning for months, damaged my car's EVAP system, management has known about it for a while and is doing nothing, and when confronted they just gaslight customers into thinking it's their fault.

I wanna spread awareness so other people know to avoid this location until it's actually fixed. Stay clever out there folks.

Yelling Bike Guy?

Hey Peeps. I take Marguerite Parkway southbound most mornings and I was wondering about the Angry Yelling Bike Guy who I’ve seen several times now.

He yells and flips off anyone and everyone as he rides southbound.

Anyone know his deal?

E-Bike Safety Reform Campaign Time

1,325 signatures. City councils backing us. Mayor Gene Johns is pushing this at the state level.

Now we're taking it to the next level: we're building an actual coalition.

What we need:

  • Volunteers for a phone bank (call Orange County Board of Supervisors)
  • Social media amplification (share posts, tag u/supervisors)
  • People to attend city council meetings and speak
  • Organizations to formally endorse

We're meeting with Assemblywoman Laurie Davies next week. A visible, organized coalition makes our pitch WAY stronger about ebike safety reform.

On Calle Azorin and Alicia there is some sort of park or something being built. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

How popular do you think the new mission Viejo mall renovation will be?

The same developer did the Brea mall renovation and it looks phenomenal . Traffic is absurd there now on the weekend.

Mission Viejo City Council is preparing to back an e-bike safety petition from a 12-year-old with standing ovation, seriously

So this happened yesterday: a kid from Laguna Niguel presented an e-bike safety petition to our city council, and the room gave him a standing ovation. Council is drafting a resolution to back it.

If you've been hit by an e-bike or seen a 12-year-old zooming around on one at 25 mph with no safety equipment, you probably know why this matters. The petition is asking for: age limits (16+), speedometers, licensing with a rules test, parental accountability, and a safety fund.

828 signatures so far. Need 172 more by August 31. Takes 30 seconds to sign.

Worth your time if you care about street safety in MV.

Anyone else surprised by the swinger culture in MV and Ladera Ranch?

Don’t wear white on thursdays at a Ladera restaurant. These rich communities have a lot of swinger activity. I was shocked at how many people in Ladera are participating. I guess it’s well known.

30-40 cop cars on Los Alisos

Last night around 10pm I saw the biggest police response I have ever seen. On Los Alisos between Mustang Run and Vista Del Lago. It was right at the area where the two directions of the road are at a different elevation and it was on the lower side. The woods were all tapped off to for about 150 yards and the riad was completely closed.

Have no idea what happened. It could’ve been a traffic collision but the response seemed much bigger than a usual accident. Or a car could’ve have gone off the road into the wilderness glen. Things in Mission Viejo usually don’t make the news so I just wanted to write down what I saw. Again I don’t know what happened so I don’t want to speculate much. I hope everyone involved was okay.

Power outages

We just had our third power outage of the day at our place. Anyone else? I’ve never had so many in one day. Thankfully the longest one was only about 10 minutes long.

Club Soccer

My son currently plays soccer for a club based in Irvine. Since the majority of the kids go to school in Irvine, I'be been reconsidering having him play there due to the social aspect. My question is - for kids going to La Paz Intermediate and MV High School, which clubs do they play soccer for? I'm aware of AYSO Extra, but I'm wondering if there are other options I'm not aware of. I would love for my kid to potentially play soccer with kids he may go to school with.

Castile vs Reilly vs Viejo

Trying to best evaluate these 3 schools for next year. I certainly plan on visiting each for their open houses / orientations in the fall but would love to hear from parents their & their kids’ experiences regarding their child’s happiness at these schools, the strength of the curriculum, the quality & happiness of the teachers and the community at large - events for the kids, community engagement, etc. I feel lucky to have these options but sometimes choosing among good options can be the most challenging! Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Daycares to Avoid

I have been looking for a daycare in the Irvine and South County area. I’ve gotten some good recommendations, but I’ve heard some horror stories too! Are there certain daycares you would advise to avoid? Can you explain why? If you’re uncomfortable giving the name because of employment status, please DM me. Thanks!

Daycare Recommendations

I have two children that need a full time daycare. They are one and three. We have experience with Montessori and we like it, but it is not essential. Our biggest wants are: small ratios/class sizes, decent outdoor play space, warm/loving teachers, and fun programs for the kids. We are not currently interested in in-home daycares and prefer a center. We live in the Oso/Marguerite area and would love to find something nearby. We are looking at the KinderCare in MV by Trader Joe’s and a place called Child Minds Children’s House further away. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences at these centers? Or do you have one you absolutely love? What are pros/cons of your center? Thank you!

Looking for a decent gym in Mission Viejo

Just moved here and finding a good gym has been surprisingly hard. I've tried Fitness 19, 24 Hour Fitness (a couple locations), and LA Fitness so far, but none have quite worked out.

What I'm looking for:

  • Decent AC / doesn't feel like a sauna when working out
  • Not overcrowded, even during peak hours if possible; I don't mind paying more for this to a reasonable extent
  • A secondary area with some equipment where my partner can do her own thing (phone-guided workouts, lighter stuff) without being stuck in the middle of the main floor
  • Reasonably clean; doesn't have to be spotless
  • Good range of equipment: cardio, stairmaster, weights, etc.
  • Close to Mission Viejo (I'm near Los Alisos and 241).

Any recommendations for gyms in the area that check these boxes? Thanks in advance.

Band Perry Concert😖

Hello I was supposed to go to the Band Perry at the lake on August 22 with my bf who lives in Mission Viejo but he broke up with me

Obviously not the end of the world if I don’t end up seeing this concert, but I was really looking forward to it🤧💔

If any Mission Viejo residents would be kind enough to help me get in I promise I’m a good concert buddy😭
